DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provides a variety of office support activities including customer service, telephone and counter reception, document processing, record keeping, data entry and organization, cashiering, and filing; provides information and assistance to staff and the general public; and performs related work as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management staff. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Initially, under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform general office support work such as customer service at the front counter and over the phone, file and records maintenance, data entry, and screening phone calls, visitors, and mail, and directing questions to the appropriate staff. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult; and positions exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Administrative Assistant in that the latter performs more advanced technical and specialized administrative support duties requiring additional training and/or experience and is typically assigned to provide administrative assistance in support of a division manager or department head.

 Provides front-line customer service support by greeting customers at the front desk or by telephone.

 Composes, types, formats, and proofreads a variety of documents, including correspondence, letters, memos, agendas, reports, lists, forms, schedules, flyers, event materials, and reports.

 Performs a variety of office support duties such as maintaining websites; scheduling meetings, conferences, and trainings; coordinating food and logistics for meetings; and ordering and maintaining office and other related supplies.

 Performs various accounting support work such as processing, reconciling, and verifying cash and monies received; and processing purchase orders, invoices, payment vouchers, check requests, and reimbursements.

 Performs related duties as assigned.

Under the direct supervision of the IT Director, the IT Support Technician II performs more advanced support for the help desk, applications, and technical support for the Peninsula Library System libraries. The position is part of the Peninsula Library System's IT Unit, called the Peninsula Library Automated Network (PLAN).

This position serves as the primary point of contact for the help desk ticketing system, manages Active Directory accounts, provides desktop support, and offers assistance with Office 365 and list-serv operations.

The Novato Sanitary District is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and goal-driven individual to join our Collection System team as a Collection System Worker (CSW). The District will hire at the level of CSW I or CSW II depending on skills, certifications and licenses held by candidates in the pool of qualified applicants. 

The CSW performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater collection and reclamation systems, including inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs on lines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. Possession of a commercial driver's license is highly desirable. Experience working with sewer cleaning trucks and equipment is also a plus.

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, signs, water meters, sewers, storm drains, pump stations and tree maintenance.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position should have previous Road Maintenance experience; sidewalks, driveways, roads, curbs, and gutters, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, arrive on time, have good attendance, a positive attitude, be able to work independently with limited supervision, and a willingness to take on and learn new skills. Possessing a Class B commercial Driver’s license is desired, though not required upon hire. 

Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series.  Positions in this class will usually perform most of the duties required of Maintenance Workers I and II; however, as compared to the Maintenance Worker II, is not expected to function at the same skill level and will usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Maintenance Worker II:

This is the journey level in the Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Maintenance Worker I in that incumbent perform more complex maintenance duties, including the requirement to meet all Standby Program requirements, take standby duty, to work any shift, weekends, and holidays.  This incumbent Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, rubber-tired and steel rollers, rubber-tired tractor with all attachments (except backhoe attachment), striping equipment, and trencher in order to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Spread asphalt in patching and repairing streets.  Use concrete cutting equipment; operate a jackhammer; pour and finish concrete; construct concrete forms and perform rough carpentry work.  Paint and install traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate a striping truck; manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.  Install and remove traffic control barricades and cones.  Assist in a variety of tree maintenance activities including low limb, stump routing, tree watering, and tree planting.  Utilize proper safety precautions and comply with policies and procedures in the Department Illness and Injury Prevention Program.  Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.  Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to inquiries from the general public.  Clean storm grates and drains.  Perform work in emergency situations as required.  Perform minor and preventive maintenance on paint spraying equipment, compressors, sprayers, compactors, and other construction equipment.  Work cooperatively with others.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Maintenance Worker I

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of work experience in construction or related field.

License or Certificate:  Possession of a valid California Driver's License required upon hire.  Class B permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three months of hire.  A valid Class B California driver's license, Completion of Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association, First Aid and CPR Certifications required prior to permanent appointment.

Maintenance Worker II

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Maintenance Worker I.

License and Certificate:  Possession of all certifications required of the Maintenance Worker I and a valid Class B California driver's license with Air Brake and Tank Endorsements required upon hire.  Possession of Railroad Worker Safety certification and Forklift certification is required prior to permanent appointment.

The City of San José is recruiting for a Business Automation and Development Services Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) in the Business Automation and Development Services Division of the Information Technology Department. The position requires a highly motivated and self-driven individual to lead a team responsible for the City's Permitting and Compliance System (Granicus GovService Amanda platform), Public Web Portal, Records Management System, Electronic Plan Review System (ProjectDox from Avolve), Business Intelligence System, Queue Management System, and Digital Inspection System. The position will oversee new technology implementations, enhancements, integrations, reports, and application upgrades for all Development Services systems. This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others in an ever-changing business and technical environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid information management experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong management skills, strong collaboration skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and issues. A team leader, team player, and positive attitude are essential to this position.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Understanding of Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement (PBCE) business processes inside a large municipality.
• Planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work related to Development Services applications and systems, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
• Providing advanced technical leadership to integrate complex existing or new information system technologies.
• Maintaining Development Services Technologies and technical documentation to high standards to support planning, building, code enforcement, fire prevention, and related services.

Please note that the Business Automation and Development Services Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) position is currently eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. The schedule for working remotely and onsite is subject to change.

Salary Information:The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

• Salary Range (including the 5% NPWI): $146,874.00 - $178,825.92

The Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) classification is represented by the City Association of Management Personnel (CAMP) . Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.

Experience: five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional/ level experience. in computer applications, systems, networks, or telecommunications work, of which at least two (2) years include the responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of major communications or computer systems.

Acceptable Substitution

• Additional years of increasingly responsible directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required two (2) years of experience include the responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of major communications or computer systems.
