The City of Sunnyvale Department of Library and Recreation Services is seeking an Intern to assist with marketing projects (e.g. Activity Guide, fliers, social media), the production of special events (e.g. Hands on the Arts Festival, State of the City, Family Fall Fest) as well as assist in other work areas as needed (Arts – Gallery, Pottery Studio and Theatre; Youth, Teen, Adult and Senior recreation programming; Sports and Aquatics programming, Facility/Field Rentals and Customer Service Desk/Registration).

Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives general direction from the Recreation Services Coordinator 2 in the Department of Library and Recreation Services. This position may act as a lead with community members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

(May include, but are not limited to, the following):

• Creates marketing material to promote the Recreation Services recreation and social services programs successfully
• Maintains, enhances and provides content for social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and NextDoor
• Plans logistics for special events, including communicating with committee staff members, volunteers, vendors, artists and performers; ordering and organizing supplies and attending planning meetings and discussions
• Tracks and keep record of special event supply purchases
• Implements Special Events, including greeting the public and answering questions; helping with set-up and clean-up; and supporting vendors, partners, artists and performers by addressing equipment, technical, and other needs

The Position: The Recreation and Community Services Department seeks a Teacher’s Aide to assist in the pre-school classroom. Responsibilities:

• Assist with set-up and clean-up of classroom and preparation of art projects

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recreation Leader II position reports to the Recreation Coordinator, and in the absence of a Recreation Coordinator, may report to the Recreation Leader III position. The position is responsible for: organizing, setting up, administering, and monitoring a variety of recreation activities and programs with a focus on programs and events for adults and seniors. Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to: participant processing, room set up/break down, program evaluation, activity monitoring, lunch program assistance and special event planning and organizing.

This position is also responsible for maintaining communication with the public, in addition to ensuring safety procedures are followed. The Recreation Leader II position must be able to work with fellow staff members to assist with the implementation of recreational activities and perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

• Completion of at least one year of college (Kinesiology, Recreation or Public Admin preferred)

• Effective written and verbal communications skills and strong problem solving skills
• Effective computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of physical fitness and trends for mature adults is highly desirable

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Senior Water Pollution Control Operator. The ideal candidates will have a journeyman level understanding of Wastewater Treatment and the associated equipment and controls required to operate those systems. The Sunnyvale Water Pollution Control Plant is a Class V Wastewater Treatment Facility with Recycled Water production.
The Sunnyvale Water Pollution Control Plant is undergoing an exciting transition, we are replacing original processes, structures and equipment with the latest treatment technologies and we would like you to be part of that upgrade.  The SWPCP is currently constructing new Screening, Pumping, Grit Removal, Sedimentation, Odor Control, Power Distribution and SCADA system as the first major replacement effort.  The Plant is also in design for a new Secondary Treatment process with Dewatering and Thickening to carry the city forward in our on-going effort to protect the bay and provide high quality Recycled Water.

The Senior Water Pollution Control (WPC) Operator provides support for their team members on an assigned shift. The Senior WPC Operator, as the shift supervisor oversees the operation, inspection and maintenance of the treatment process, plant equipment and facilities.  The Senior WPC Operator is a reliable communicator that prioritizes tasks and ensures that Operators, Maintenance and other team members work in a safe and productive environment.

 

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

Graduation from high school or tested equivalent, and three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.

 

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record and possession of a valid Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate issued by the California State Water Quality Control Board is required for this position.
