Summary:
Under general supervision, plan, conduct, and participate in recreational program activities according to established programs, schedules, and standards, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop, conduct, and participate in various athletic, craft, social, cultural, and instructional activities
• Prepare facilities for programming, special events, or rental group usage
• Greet visitors, direct participants to the appropriate location, and respond to general inquiries
• Ensure safety of environment and equipment for staff, volunteers, participants, and visitors
• May open or close and secure facilities in compliance with District policies and procedures
• Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies used by instructors, participants, or visitors
• Supervise special events, field trips, and other group activities

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and community events
• Modify and adapt activities specific to specialized programs or populations, as appropriate
• May assist with transportation in specialized programs

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 500 hours of experience in recreation with 15 units completed in recreation or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance. For Therapeutics unit^: ability to obtain a commercial driver license within one year of employment (for a 15-passenger van).
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.

DEFINITION 

The Recreation Specialist - Lead Building Attendant oversees daily operations, trains and mentors' junior staff, ensures quality standards, delegates tasks efficiently, handles conflicts, enforces policies, and communicates with supervisors. They make decisions during unsupervised shifts, maintain security, and manage special projects, contributing to overall operational efficiency.

DEFINITION 

As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Burlingame Community Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a hands-on individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Hours (6-20 hours per week)

Hours depend on rentals and special events.

• Monday - Thursday         7:30 am - 9:15 pm
• Friday - Saturday             7:30 am - 5:30 pm

Shifts depends on special events and rentals.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Open, close and secure recreation facilities.
• Sets up and tear down tables and chairs in meeting rooms and keep inventory of meeting room equipment.
• Provide a variety of office related functions including program registration, answering public inquiries both in person and on the phone.
• Perform light maintenance to maintain equipment, rooms and the overall appearance of the building.
• Clean and sanitize common areas, restrooms, offices, and other facilities as needed. This includes dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and waste disposal.

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. The City of San Rafael Fire Department is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Fire Cadet.  This opportunity is designed for individuals who are pursuing a career in the fire service and want to gain hands-on experience in a professional firefighting environment.  As a Fire Cadet, you will work closely with our experienced Firefighter-Paramedics, Prevention and Mitigation staff to learn about fire department operations, fire prevention administration, emergency response procedures, and community engagement. 

This is a temp/seasonal position, limited to 1,000 hours worked within a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30) that receives no City benefits other than what is mandated by the State of California.  This cadetship is expected to last one year.  The exact duration may vary based on department needs and cadet performance.

• Administrative Support:  Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, data entry, and inventory management.  Gain exposure to the behind-the scenes operations of a fire department. 
• Physical Fitness:  Work towards maintaining a level of physical fitness necessary for performing firefighting duties.  Engage in physical training and conditioning activities as directed by the department.

The specific duties of the After School Program Site Lead include program and curriculum development and implementation, budget management, staff management, participation and coordination of staff development, and general oversight of the designated after school program. The position will provide a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised after school program; act as a liaison between the program and parents, stakeholders, school administration, and school district staff to provide for a collaborative, positive, beneficial program. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

DEFINITION: Plan, organize and execute personal curriculum for elementary age children for a one hour onsite outdoor enrichment program. Program hours could include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2pm – 4pm and Wednesday 1:15pm – 3:15pm, preparation hours can be discussed.

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with schools, parents, and children.

• Create and implement your own curriculum within an allocated budget
• Manage the task of checking in and checking out each child to the proper guardian.
• Encourage good behavior and appropriate manners.
• Encourage active participation and provide a safe and nurturing environment.
• Implement and lead appropriate activities for elementary aged children.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of the children during enrichment.
• Motivate participants through example.
• Create and maintain a positive after school environment.
• Accurately maintain attendance records.
• Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc).
• Render first aid in case of minor injuries.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

This position serves as the facility manager for District buildings, coordinating professional repair, maintenance, and housekeeping services, managing security access systems, and ensuring facilities comply with regulatory standards and codes.
