The Position

The Town of Atherton invites you to apply for the position of Front Desk Receptionist / Clerk for the City Manager’s Office. The position requires an individual to provide responsible professional, administrative, and technical assistance to support the City Manager’s Office which includes City Clerk functions. The individual will provide administrative support and general reception for the Town Hall. The administrative functions include, but are not limited to, supporting activities to promote and prepare for Town meetings, processing applications for permits, customer service and public interaction related to Town programs and services, special projects based on needs; and assisting in office management functions.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

What You'll Do

The Senior Program Assistant performs a variety of complex clerical and technical functions in support of programs at the assigned facility.  Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Coordinate a variety of tasks associated with the delivery of services under programs at the assigned facility.
• Coordinate facility booking, scheduling and rental processes.
• Assist in providing for the safety, maintenance and security of program participants, staff, equipment and facilities.
• Act as liaison with program and managerial staff, community groups and program participants.
• Directly participate in, and monitor the work of staff assigned to, the program registration process.
• Process transactions in support of department programs which entail: substantial interaction with interested parties; knowledge of procedures and policies; and the accounting for payables and monies received.

SENIOR TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER

One (1) Position Available

The Organization

The Public Works, Transportation Engineering Division plans and operates a multi-modal transportation system with safe and convenient choices for walking, bicycling, driving and using transit, through local actions, and in coordination with regional and state transportation agencies. Our work is guided by a City adopted Mobility Action Plan, Vision Zero Action Plan and in Coordination with the City's Mobility Commission. 

The City is currently developing its first Active Transportation Plan (ATP), which updates and consolidates its previous Bicycle Master Plan and Pedestrian Master Plan and provides guidance for its active transportation programs for the next five years.

The Position

The Senior Transportation Engineer plays a key role in implementing Fremont's General Plan vision to be "a national model of how an auto-oriented suburb can evolve into a sustainable, strategically urban, modern city." Specific City goals and current projects include implementing the "Vision Zero" traffic safety improvement program, transforming Fremont's transportation corridors into "complete streets" that are safe, comfortable, and convenient for all travel modes and users of "All Ages and Abilities", reducing the number of vehicle miles traveled, expanding available transit services, modernizing the City's traffic signal system, upgrading State Highway corridors, and supporting new innovations in transportation technology.

In 2019, the City completed a Mobility Action Plan and formed a Mobility Commission to assist with plan implementation. Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will typically possess the following:

• Experience: Five years of professional Transportation engineering experience at the fully qualified working level.
• Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements:
  • Possession of valid registration as a traffic engineer or civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Dual registration is highly desirable.
  • This classification requires the ability to travel independently within and outside the City limits. Positions in this classification require possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License by the time of appointment. Failure to possess or maintain the valid required license shall result in discipline up to and including termination of employment.

Summary:
Under general supervision, monitors and maintains the District’s central reservation system and main­tains schedules for outdoor facilities including fields, parks and picnic areas; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains reservation system for the District comprising of outdoor and indoor spaces; manages mobile staging and equipment to include establishing reservation reschedules, posting schedules online, and providing direct oversight of outdoor space usage.
• Responds to online, telephone and in-person inquiries from the public and co-workers, receives web and paper reservation applications, reviews applications for proper use of space according to District guidelines, determines approval/rejection of applications, notifies applicants of decisions, and files documents for recordkeeping.
• Assists in authorizing permits for private and public entities, reviews permit holder’s evidence of insurance, submits and files insurance forms.
• Accepts payments from permit holders including deposits for space, processes payments for accounting purposes, obtains information on after-use condition of facilities, determines amount of refunds, providing justification as needed if part or all of refund is withheld, and processes deposit refunds as appropriate.
• Accurately processes monetary transactions including credit card transactions, issues receipts, reconciles cash and receipts, and prepares bank deposits.
• Researches, studies and interprets city and District rules and regulations related to use of public facilities, provides expert knowledge of space availability, codes and ordinances to the public on use of facilities.
• Assists with troubleshooting issues related to functionality of reservation software program, receives feedback on reservation system, and proposes modifications to program to enhance user experience.
• Distributes printed and posted material related to reservations in marketing efforts.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• May drive a District or personal vehicle.
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed.
• Non-exempt employees may be required to work overtime.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satis­factorily.

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: an associate degree from a two-year college and one year of increasingly responsible clerical experience with frequent public contact; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

DEFINITION

Knowledge of:
