City of Gilroy is recruiting for summer/seasonal Recreation Leader positions for the 2020 Summer Sports programs.  The main goal of the Recreation Department is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide-range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under direct supervision of a Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Specialist and indirect supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs.  Program areas include, but are not limited to, Adaptive (Special Needs), Adult and/or Youth sports, After School Program, Cultural Arts, Facility Attendant, Senior Center, Special Events, Summer Camps, and Youth Center/Youth Services.  This position may be a year round part-time position or seasonal position, depending on the recreation program. As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader I to Recreation Leader II or from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

 About the Position
The City Manager’s Office of Communications is recruiting for an Assistant to the City Manager position. This Assistant to the City Manager will act as a Deputy Public Information Manager and report to the Director of Communications. The Deputy Public Information Manager manages a portfolio of City departments and serves as a media contact and/or spokesperson, as well as a Deputy Emergency Public Information Officer.
 
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential for this position. An ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in marketing and public relations techniques, technologies and platforms, including digital/social media and visual storytelling. The Deputy Public Information Manager also will advise senior-level managers and elected officials about communications, news media, and community implications and alternatives for decisions, policies and programs. Previous local government and/or public relations/advertising agency experience preferred.
  

This is a permanent at-will position with the City Manager’s Office reporting to the City Manager’s Director of Communications.

The San Jose Police Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Police Geographic Information Systems Analyst position in the Systems Development Division of the Bureau of Technical Services. This is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and is responsible for overseeing and managing day-to-day Police GIS services, system integration, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system support. This position will provide GIS services and support across the Police Department, including technical solutions and automation for the Crime Analysis unit.

The position requires strong hands-on technical GIS experience and analytical skills as well as the ability to identify opportunities and effectively apply geospatial technology within the department to add business value. We are seeking an individual capable of taking initiative and leading others and with willingness to adapt in changing business and technical environments.  This position reports directly to the Information Technology Manager. Excellent command of verbal and written communication skills is required.

Key responsibilities and duties of the Police Geographic Information Systems Analyst may include but are not limited to the following: 

a.    Provide GIS data development and conversion for the agency’s Hexagon CAD system. Convert, build, test, and deploy regular updates to key datasets that drive the CAD system. Configure, support, troubleshoot and resolve issues with CAD mapping, geolocation, and routing. Maintain responsibility for testing and release management of routine updates.

b.    Lead GIS efforts to meet NextGen 911 requirements, working in coordination with Enterprise GIS data management staff.

c.     Plan, organize, and guide the agency’s use of GIS by analyzing business needs and implementing GIS strategies and solutions. Provide GIS services throughout the Police Department in alignment with the City’s Enterprise GIS platform and standards.

d.    Improve service delivery by geographically enabling business systems and integrating of geospatial technology into business processes and workflows.

e.    Provide technical support and expertise to the Crime Analysis unit, including data integration, process automation, and implementation of analytics solutions.

f.      Increase geospatial knowledge within the department by understanding business needs, demonstrating technical solutions, communicating business value, and leading and supporting departmental users at all levels.

g.    Maintain documentation for CAD database and map updates

h.    Ability to create Geofile updates for various Police Department applications such as the Records Management System (RMS), CopLogic, etc.

i.      Regularly communicate and work with the Public Works Department GIS staff to support City’s enterprise GIS database.

j.      Collaborate with GIS staff in the City and other County jurisdictions in support of more accurate and consistent GIS data. This many include meetings and participation of projects as directed.

The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.  In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Accounting Technician classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

This is the highest level class in the non-professional accounting series responsible for performing paraprofessional accounting work.  This class differs from the next lower class of Principal Account Clerk based upon the technical difficulty of assigned duties.  This class differs from the Accountant I class in that the latter is a professional level class wherein incumbents may prepare and sign off reports, statements and audits and perform other professional accounting functions.

Duties of this position may include:

-  Provides detailed technical paraprofessional accounting records to operating departments or Finance Department, including but not limited to: summaries, inventories, control reports, projections, or analyses.

-  Processes financial documents according to internal regulations, and in compliance with county, state, or federal requirements; reviews record or other documents to resolve problems and/or determine proper coding, entries and documentation; researches payments received by the City; processes payments and other accounting entries to the Financial Management System (FMS); scans and saves all documentation in accordance with policy.

-  May supervise accounting clerical personnel, assign, and evaluate work.

-  Advises operating departments/units in setting up and conducting financial matters and departmental program budgets according to City regulations.

-  Interfaces with other City departments, auditors, business entities, governmental jurisdiction and general public, giving and receiving information regarding area of financial responsibility.

-  Operates or utilizes a variety of standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers, scanners, phones, calculators, fax, software programs and accounting machines and equipment.

-  Prepares organized, legible, and concise written and verbal communication applying directives that are thorough, accurate and comprehensive.
