JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Develop and instruct weekly lesson plans (i.e. art, free play, enrichment, and circle time).
• Supervise preschool age children indoors and outdoors.
• Maintains a variety of program records and prepares reports relevant to program area.
• Ensures that activities run smoothly and according to program objectives and guidelines and general department philosophy.
• Maintain direct communication with parents and families.
• Encourage and support early childhood development.
• Clean tables, floors and play areas when need arises.
• Participate in City sponsored special events which may occur on weekends and/or holidays

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

General supervision is provided by the Tiny Tots Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Be able to establish and maintain productive working relations with others

• Must have some knowledge of growth and developmental stages of 3-5 year old children

Tiny Tots Preschool Aide (Activity Specialist II)

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have ECE units, or educational equivalent, or experience caring for children

Tiny Tots Preschool Lead (Activity Specialist III)

• Must have 6 academic units at the junior college level in an Early Childhood Education program and 18 months experience in a recreation or structured child care setting for preschoolers.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

• Must be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality
• Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)
• Employees are required to be certified in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent. Employees must be certified 30 days prior to the first day of work.
• Fingerprinting and TB test are required

Marina Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center, and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Marina Attendants provide assistance and information to marina customers, in person and by telephone; perform marina related inspections and boat checks including seaworthiness boat checks and improvement verifications; perform boat measurement and appearance inspections; monitor dock conditions, check seawall and other dock infrastructure, and clear debris from Suisun City waters; perform impound and auction related activities; interpret, apply and explain policies, regulations, codes and procedures relating to slips, moorings and dock structures; assign space for visiting vessels, calculate and collect fees; maintain inventory and operate marina equipment. ABOUT THE POSITION: Office Assistant I will receive immediate direction from the Senior Administrative Assistant, with additional direction given by the Business Services Supervisor. They provide a variety of clerical support and perform a wide range of customer service-related tasks in a fast paced, high touch environment. The Recreation Leader position may be assigned to the following areas:

This position will also provide facility and exhibit orientations and/or tours including appropriate tour materials.

Park Monitor: Under general supervision, this assignment monitors patrons, patrols parks and enforce rules at City of Dublin parks to ensure that permit areas are safe, clean, functional; and notify the Police Services as to any irregularities when appropriate.

Preschool Program: Under general supervision, this assignment assists with organization and instruction of preschool classes for children 18 months through 5 years. Duties also include developing and directing weekly lesson plans and activities.

Shannon Community Center: Under general supervision, this assignment oversees the proper use of a community recreational facility; performs a variety of custodial tasks; and assists the public and staff in their use of the facility.

Sports Programs: Under general supervision, this assignment is responsible for officiating a variety of sports league events and also serves as official scorer-of-record at sports events.

This Recreation Leader must be available to work on weekends, Friday-Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., 10-12 hour shifts, with occasional weekdays/weeknights. Hours may vary dependent on the number of facility rentals, classes, and meetings that are booked.

Supervision Received and Exercised: 
Receive general supervision from a Recreation Coordinator.
 
May receive technical and/or functional supervision from a Program Specialist. Exercise technical and functional supervision over Recreation Aide.

PROGRAM LEADER (SPORTS AND FITNESS)

Salary Range: $16.54 to $22.05/hour, DOE

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year); predominantly afternoon/evening schedule, some weekends.

DEFINITION

The Town seeks gym monitors, scorekeepers, and leaders for a variety of youth and adult sports. Sports may include, but are not limited to basketball, softball, and bocce ball. Sports knowledge is preferred. All staff will be cross-trained for multiple sports. CPR/FA certification is recommended but not required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Program Leader receives supervision from the Program Coordinator and/or Program

Assistant.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Scorekeeping and gym monitoring.
• Completing program score sheets, reports, and timesheets according to deadlines.
