The Senior Services division of the City’s Parks, Beaches & Recreation Department currently has a part-time openings for a bus/van driver. This vital position reports to the Supervisor of Senior Services and, while other local trips may be required, is responsible for transporting seniors to and from the Community Center. This position is also responsible for gathering client data as it relates to Aging and Adult Services and assisting the Recreation Coordinator — Senior Services with client needs. This part-time, non-benefitted position works between 25 - 30 hours per week, with a flexible Monday through Friday work schedule. 

Essential Function Requirements

•  Ability to establish rapport with older adults; ability to physically assist with the loading/and unloading of clients in need from vehicle.
• Class B Commercial license with a passenger endorsement or Class C Commerical license with a passenger endorsement; and drive either a bus or a van.
• Must pass medical physical as required for holding a commercial driver’s license.
• Subject to random drug/alcohol testing as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT). Must comply with all DOT rules and regulations.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person and on the telephone.
• Basic computer skills required (Word, Excel).
• Must comply with AAS client confidentiality rules.
• Establish positive and confidential working relationships with staff and public.
• Must be able to prioritize daily situations based upon emergency needs and requests.

Examples of Duties

 Drive seniors to and from their home to the Community Center; maintain composure during crisis situations; manage the scheduling of client appointments for services provided at the Community Center; partner with staff to perform specific tasks required of Recreation Specialist-Senior Services (in staff’s absence); telephone or home visit to Meals on Wheels (MOW) clients.

Employment Standards

• Minimum of high school graduation or equivalent.
• Experience in working with seniors or an organization which addresses the needs and interests of the older adult population is desired.  

Licenses and Certificates 

• Minimum of Class B Commercial license with a passenger endorsement.
• Must have current or be able to attain the American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate, CPR, and AED certificate within three months of employment.

 About SMART

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is a passenger train and bicycle & pedestrian pathway project located in San Francisco’s North Bay. SMART will provide rail service along 70 miles of the historic Northwestern Pacific Railroad alignment, connecting urban and rural residents of the two counties with jobs, education and health care services in the region. The project revives the long-dormant but publicly owned railroad right of way, serving stations from Cloverdale in Sonoma County to the San Francisco-bound ferry terminal in Larkspur, Marin County.

The first phase, a 42-mile rail and trail project connecting the county seats and population centers of San Rafael and Santa Rosa, was inaugurated in August of 2017. Extensions north and south will be developed as additional funding is identified.

The Conductor is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of SMART trains. Responsible for courteous and professional interaction with passengers, and inspection of fares

This position is a certified Conductor’s position responsible for the safe movement of trains by adhering to applicable operating rules and practices. Assures excellent service delivery by adhering to District service standards. Ensures safety of passengers and crew by adhering to safety rules. Submits various reports to record movement delays, unusual occurrences, passenger inconveniences, and mechanical defects. This position will be responsible for communicating appropriate and pertinent information to Central Control, customers, supervisors, and others designated to receive such information. Assists in boarding and detraining of passengers and baggage. Makes customer service announcements and provides information about train service to include passenger connections. Makes special arrangements in case of service failure. Ensures each passenger has the proper fare. Ensures safe and orderly passenger conduct. This position will also be responsible for incidental housekeeping and cleaning of trains at terminals.

SMART is a voter approved passenger rail project located in Marin and Sonoma counties in Northern California. We began revenue service in August 2017 and were the first new railroad in the country to begin service with Positive Train Control installed. We are seeking experienced and motivated individuals who enjoy the challenge of creating new processes and systems. Under direction, the Signal Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of grade crossing warning devices, signaling and SMART's Positive Train Control system, rail safety communication systems and car borne signal components. This position will perform maintenance on railway signal and communications equipment such as track signals, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, positive train control equipment, fiber optic links, programmable multiplexer servers, stand alone computers, power supplies and associated communications equipment.

SMART is a voter approved passenger rail project located in Marin and Sonoma counties in Northern California. Our railroad is currently under construction. We are seeking experienced and motivated individuals who enjoy the challenge of creating new processes and systems.

Under direction of the Controller-Supervisor, the Engineer-Conductor position is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of SMART trains, courteous and professional interaction with passengers, and inspection of fares.

This position is a dual-certified position consolidating the responsibilities of an Engineer and a Conductor into a single dual-certified classification. This position is responsible for the operation of SMART trains in accordance with SMART and Federal Rail Administration (FRA) rules, operating procedures, and guidelines. Operation of trains will be under the direction of an on-duty Controller-Supervisor, either according to a current schedule or as an unscheduled extra, and on a revenue or non-revenue basis. Engineer Conductors will also be required to operate material handling trains using a freight locomotive. This position will be responsible for the safety of customers, equipment, fellow staff members and the general public during operation of the train, and for the enforcement of SMART’s fare collection system through the inspection of fare payment instruments under a proof-of-payment fare collection system and other responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must possess a high school diploma, GED or recognized equivalent
• Three (3) years full time equivalent or verifiable experience operating trains in a general railroad system environment.
• Must be a Federal Railroad Administration Certified Locomotive Engineer.
• Must meet or exceed the requirements for a Certified Conductor.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• There is a 12-month probationary period for regular appointment to this position.

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Transit Driver I / Dispatcher, 

Candidate must have basic arithmetic skills, speak both English and basic Spanish and have general office procedures knowledge .

The preferred candidate will have a proficient knowledge of the geographical layout of the City of Chowchilla including major streets, public places and landmarks, and general locations within the City’s Sphere of Influence and be capable of  maintaining a mental image of the location of all in-service transit vehicles. The candidate must have knowledge of telephone and two-way radio operations and procedures; must know provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code that are applicable to the operations of passenger-carrying vehicles; possess safe driving practice; and possess a basic first aid certification. 

Candidate must be able to drive a passenger-carrying bus safely and efficiently; understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; maintain accurate records; think clearly and quickly; be able to use dispatching software and establish and maintain cooperative working relations with City staff, senior citizens, adults, children and persons with disabilities; be able to read and write competently ; speak and communicate effectively in both English and basic Spanish.

The candidate may be exposed to heat, cold, fog and rain, sneezing and coughing passengers, passengers experiencing motion sickness, caustic and corrosive chemicals, and instances to assist persons with a disability. Candidate will be required to maintain the interior and exterior of transit vehicles. 

THE POSITION

The City of Dublin is currently seeking citizens who are willing to serve as volunteers and are ready to respond whenever disaster strikes. During a catastrophic event there are enormous unmet human resource needs; having a pre-screened and well-managed reserve of volunteers is an extremely valuable community asset.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Volunteers are expected to be on-call when large incidents and disasters occur. These major events include, but are not limited to, earthquakes, severe storms, tornadoes, flash floods, landslides; floods, fires, and unusual incidents than can arise out of terrorism, urban unrest or mass actions.

Whenever such large incidents occur, volunteers are called upon to assist professional responders such as police officers, firefighters, building inspectors, care & shelter support and general emergency operations support with any tasks associated with disaster response and recover. Possible tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Care & Shelter – Assist in accruing and providing food, clothing, bedding, shelter, and rehabilitation aid; register evacuees to promote reuniting families and to support the needs of special populations; compile authoritative lists of deceased and missing persons; and other phases of emergency human services, such as maintaining morale and administering to the mental health, religious or spiritual needs of persons suffering from the effects of the disaster.
• Logistics – Under the direction of the Chief of Logistics and/or designee, assist in procurement, warehousing, and release of supplies, equipment materials, or other resources. Assist in mobilization and utilization of public and private transportation resources required for the movement of persons, materials, and equipment.
• Animal Care – Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a temporary shelter to house animals, register animals to promote reuniting pets with owners, manage intake of donated materials, providing food and water to animals, cleaning living areas, taking animals out for walks, brushing and grooming animal coats, and transporting animals.
• Child Care – Assist in the establishment and provision of a temporary child care facility; provide youth ages infant to teen with support and engaging activities; prepare meals and snacks; keep the facility areas clean and organized; assist with crafts, games or free-play; act as a positive role model; provide positive reinforcement and promote healthy, non-violent behaviors; communicate with other full-time staff and volunteers regarding on-going facility, program, and client needs.
• Search and Rescue – Under the direction of the appropriate authority, perform search and rescue operations in one or more of several areas including: search and rescue; urban search and rescue; or confined space rescue.
• Safety Assessment Inspector – Survey, evaluate and assess damaged facilities for continued occupancy or use; assist in emergency restoration of facilities for utilities, transportation, and other vital community services; and provide recommendations regarding shoring or stabilization of damaged or unsafe building or structures.
• Emergency Volunteer Center – Establish and manage volunteer reception station; distribute forms to potential volunteers; direct people with non-volunteer related inquiries to appropriate source; post urgent volunteer resource needs; establish and manager volunteer intake and referral station; conduct brief interview with prospective volunteers; register volunteers as Disaster Service Workers; ensure completion of required paperwork and administration of Loyalty Oath.
• Any clerical/administrative support wherever needed.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is offering an excellent training and fire experience for individuals interested in a career working for a fire department. The District is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Communication Reserve. This is a volunteer/non-paid position. Applications are being accepted on a continuous basis, but candidates are encouraged to apply early as this recruitment may close at any time. 

Volunteer Communication Reserves are an important part of the District's operations. Their dedication and commitment to the District contribute to the overall success and safety of the Organization and staff by enhancing the communication and support functions in both times of emergency and on a routine basis. Volunteer Communication Reserves do not perform firefighting functions, or other functions that are normally performed by career District personnel.
 
The duties consist of, but are not limited to the following:

• Fire support duties as assigned, including rehabilitation duties during fire incidents
• Provide support during mutual aid response, including track resources.
• Assist with logistical Situation/Resource Status support
• Distribute and recover radio equipment (Cache radios and other equipment)
• Operate radio equipment at incidents
• Provide telephone and fax support at incidents and during emergencies
• Assist with the Mobile Command Post and Breathing Support Unit, including setup, operation, shutdown and rehabilitation (upon completion of training)
• Drive Communications Support and Breathing Support Units, including setup, startup and shutdown/rehabilitation (upon completion of the appropriate license, certification, and training requirements)
• Responsible for the inspection and care, including reporting maintenance issues through the appropriate channels, of the Mobile Communications and Breathing Support Units

THE POSITION:
The purpose of this program is to augment full-time staffing in the City of Lincoln Firefighting program, but mostly the intent is to provide opportunity to develop the skills and abilities necessary for a candidate to gain employment in the fire services industry. The non-sworn Reserve Firefighter will gain the valuable work experience needed to obtain the California State Firefighter I certification. The City of Lincoln will benefit from producing well trained reservists who assist the department with the gained skills, knowledge and abilities. The Reserve Firefighter will receive on-going training.
