The City of San José is recruiting for an Enterprise Business Automation and Development Services Manager in the Information Technology Department. As a technical manager, this position will oversee technology at an enterprise level and ensure that technology initiatives across all departments are aligned with the overall business strategies, improving efficiency and coherence in technology implementation. This position will manage the scalability of IT infrastructure to support business growth and integration across various departments, avoiding siloed implementations.

In addition, the Enterprise Business Automation and Development Services Manager would enforce consistent security protocols and compliance measures, reducing risks to the city. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to optimize the allocation of technology resources to avoid redundancy and maximize the rate of investment for better resource management, cost savings, and more strategic investments in technology. • Cybersecurity and Risk Management: Enforce IT security policies and protocols to protect the organization's data and systems; Monitor for potential security threats and respond to incidents; Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
• Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers; Ensure that third-party services meet organizational standards and deliver value; Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand their technology needs and priorities.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends; Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement; Lead initiatives to adopt new technologies that can improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.
• Compliance and Governance: Ensure that the organization's technology operations comply with relevant regulations and standards; Implement and maintain governance frameworks for IT management; Prepare and submit reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies; Ensure that backup systems and procedures are in place and tested regularly; Coordinate response efforts during IT emergencies and system outages.

The Information Technology Department is recruiting for a Business Analyst within the City Products-Projects-Portfolio Office (C3PO).

The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in analyzing and documenting business processes, identifying needs, and providing data-driven recommendations to improve the organization's efficiency and productivity.

The position will also lead and perform usability and accessibility work on digital service delivery analysis and/or improvement. This position will play a key role in ensuring new services are developed to bridge access, language, and ease of use barriers experienced disproportionately by underserved portions of our community.

The City of San José Information Technology Department (ITD) seeks a Cybersecurity Analyst (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) to support new and existing initiatives in the Cybersecurity Office. The position will focus on Risk Mitigation as well as Identity & Access Management with exposure and support on all aspects of the Cybersecurity practice, including cross-support.

The ideal candidate will be part of one of the largest, most innovative communities in the nation. Led by the City Information Security Officer (CISO), the Cybersecurity Analyst will implement and manage information and system security programs across the City that keep municipal services secure and resilient. The Cybersecurity Analysts will support the CISO and the City by administering risk identification, protection and compliance, threat detection, incident response, and recovery services for all City departments to achieve business resilience.

The City of San José requires Cybersecurity Analysts to be highly skilled and adapt quickly to deal with emerging challenges. • This role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the Security needs of the ITD. The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department seeks an IS Systems Specialist III to serve in the Security Division. Under general supervision, the individual in this position performs the most complex and varied technical tasks related to the configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of the County's security infrastructure. This position serves as a technical leader and technical subject matter expert in specific security area(s) and is called upon to analyze existing and future computing environments and ensure that all solutions comply with County policy, frameworks and industry accepted best practices.

As an integral part of the Security team, the IS System Specialist III will be responsible for system administration across a variety of platforms and services such as: Firewalls (Palo Alto); Intrusion Detection and Prevention (Palo Alto Threat Prevention and Wildfire); Endpoint Protection Suite/XDR; Security Orchestration Platform (XSOAR); Cloud Security services; XDR SIEM monitoring and management; Vulnerability identification and mitigation/remediation.

The position also requires support in ancillary systems that support IAM/ARM platforms such as SolarWinds, Active Directory, OKTA. Additionally, this position will perform intrusion event investigative and reporting activities as required. Similarly, incumbents in this class must regularly analyze requests for new system implementations and ensure that strategies are applied that support best practice security design and integration with existing security infrastructure. Furthermore, this position will be tasked with performing analysis and data production and reporting in support of any identified indicators of compromise, audit and policy compliance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in management information systems, computer science, or a related field and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in supporting and implementing information technology infrastructure and/or server administration and specific to the specialty area assigned which includes data center management, IT facilities management, storage and backup, server management and server operating systems, and/or configuration management and event management. Additional related experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis, up to four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications:

About the Position: Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) is seeking a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern in the Information Systems and Technology (IST) Department. The GIS Intern will perform GIS mapping and analysis tasks in support of land acquisition, open space planning, capital improvement, and resource management activities. Responsibilities include creating maps for District Board reports and presentations; compiling and synthesizing geographic data; developing attribute data for feature classes; performing basic geoprocessing; maintaining and updating GIS databases as new data are collected; preparing, modifying and updating District site maps and brochures; providing graphic support for other departments including the development of maps, charts, displays, presentations, graphics, brochures, and drawings; and collecting field data.  The expected start date for this position is December 2024.

Basic Requirements: Internships are open to applications from current students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months). Successful candidates will have a background in geography, planning, environmental studies, landscape architecture, or another related field; demonstrated experience with ArcGIS software; and demonstrated expertise/enthusiasm in cartography and map production. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, the ability to work well both in a team setting and independently, and the willingness to occasionally work in rugged, remote settings.  Knowledge of web GIS, experience with field data collection, and the desire to learn are a plus. Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Working Conditions/Schedule: This position will operate within the IST department. It will be based primarily in-office at our Administrative Office in Los Altos, CA, with occasional field data collection. These occasional field days may take place during inclement weather, and may involve working alone and in remote, rugged terrain with numerous biotic and abiotic hazards.

THE POSITION

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This entry-level classification in the Program Leader series is responsible for providing child development services in Youth Services programs. Incumbents at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Senior Program Leader level, and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

1. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties.

2. Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups.

3. Uses positive reinforcement strategies to maintain order and discipline within the classroom; handles disruptions as needed.

4. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.

5. Assists in the implementation and monitoring of District procedures with respect to participant safety.

6. May participate in staff meetings, family conferences, and other special meetings; observes and monitors family conditions and notifies supervisor of concerns as appropriate.

7. Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation, including observation notes, logs, and other records.

8. May participate in public relations, outreach, and community education activities.

9. Attends staff training, workshops, and courses as directed by supervisor.

10. Assists with District special events as needed.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

•  High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in child development Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
•  Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is desirable.

Knowledge of:

• Child development services, operations, and activities.
•  Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and applications related to the work.
•  Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service

Ability to:

•  Learn policies, rules, regulations, operations, services, and activities related to assigned activities.
•  Assist in maintaining the safety of program activities and participants. 
• Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
•  Perform work as directed in an efficient, effective, safe, and timely manner.
•  Make basic mathematic calculations with speed and accuracy.

Licenses and Certifications:

Completion of American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED training within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess: mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The classification supports indoor and outdoor programs requiring frequent walking, running, conducting exercises, and related physical activities. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and holidays.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is actively seeking two (2) full-time Community Engagement Coordinators (CEC) to join the City Administration Department and the Gilroy Police Department. In this dynamic role, the CECs will collaborate with the Administration and Police Department teams to enhance the City's public relations, drive community outreach initiatives, and effectively disseminate information to support the City's operations, services, and policies and procedures. This presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the city's communication and community engagement efforts.

 Under the supervision of the assigned manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Gilroy plays a key role in improving various programs. Responsibilities include managing the City's website content, overseeing digital media platforms, coordinating social media and video communication, engaging in public speaking and written communication, handling print and digital media, participating in marketing initiatives, leading and coordinating community engagement efforts, and providing excellent customer service. The duties may vary depending on the assigned department.

FIRST YEAR PROJECTS INCLUDE: 

• Police Department

• Publish the Annual Report, showcasing department achievements.
• Lead community outreach to promote key programs and events.
• Develop an internal communications strategy for staff updates.
• Create and manage social media content to boost engagement and brand visibility.
• Serve as media liaison and communications coordinator during critical events.
• Coordinate events like Police Academies, National Night Out, and Coffee with a Cop and other events.
• Revive the Neighborhood Watch Program
• Compile and present monthly social media performance reports.

  City Administration

• Assist with groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and press conferences.
• Coordinate and manage the City's website, ensuring it remains current.
• Lead and conduct City Hall tours.
• Create engaging content for the City's website and digital channels.
• Design the annual Employee Calendar to promote collaboration.
• Act as backup Emergency Public Information Officer.
• Establish an evergreen content library for City campaigns.
• Update the City’s content library with fresh photos, videos, and illustrations.
