The City of Sunnyvale is looking to fill the Part-Time Golf Services Assistant position with a team member that believes the impossible is possible. Sunnyvale Golf Course is a par 70 regulation 18-hole course with numerous bunkers, dog legs and water holes. Sunnyvale is a well-manicured test of the player's skill stretching out to 6,255 yards. Sunken Gardens Golf Course is a 9-hole, 1,502-yard executive course. Sunken Gardens is ideal for the beginner golfer with ample practice facilities and shorter length holes. 

The Part-Time Golf Service Assistant is responsible for performing customer service and cash handling tasks in accordance with standard procedures and following specific instructions from the supervising staff. The Golf Service Assistant classification is distinguished from the higher classification of Assistant Golf Professional in that the latter has increased level of responsibility, such as explaining and enforcing rules of the game of golf, equipment repair, golf starting, and event coordination.

Associate Civil Engineer | Senior Civil Engineer

The Public Works’ Administration and Engineering Team works on the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which includes projects for our full-service agency. Associate Civil Engineer:

The Associate Civil Engineer performs complex engineering work in the office and field for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other Public Works projects and programs, ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria.   

Other duties may include determining codes, regulations, and requirements; preparing, reviewing and coordinating the development of engineering plans, specifications, agreements, maps, reports; providing project management for municipal public works projects; reviewing construction bids; administering grant applications; responding to public inquiries; assisting in survey work; administering permits for utility, street use, and franchise; and providing engineering support for other City departments.  

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. 

• A minimum of three (3) years of responsible civil engineering experience performing duties comparable to an Assistant Civil Engineer. 

• Possession and maintenance of a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California or possess Professional Engineer Registration in another state with the ability to obtain California registration within six (6) months. 

The ideal Associate Engineer candidate will possess the following:    

• Possession of a Master’s degree is desirable. 

• Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting.   

• Municipal or related consultant experience highly desirable.  

Senior Civil Engineer: 

The Senior Civil Engineer performs is responsible for managing a wide range of Public Works projects and initiatives, as well as the potential to supervise and oversee professional, journey-level, and technical staff and consultants. The Senior Civil Engineer for will report directly to the Principal Civil Engineer of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP).  The Engineering Team work under the general direction of the City Engineer/Deputy Public Works Director.    

The Senior Civil Engineer for CIP will manage projects in a broad range of disciplines including water, sewer, storm drain, pavement, transportation, and facilities.   The City’s CIP budget for fiscal year 2024-2025totals $142 million and consists of approximately 96 projects, including the replacement of Fire Station 52, the construction of water tanks, water and sewer mains and pump stations, railroad grade separation, and transportation projects.  The community additionally passed a local measure, which provides for enhanced funding for pavement treatment.  The Senior Engineer will be entering into a cohesive, collaborative and supportive Engineering Section team.    

The ideal Senior Civil Engineer candidate will possess the following:    

• Possession of a Master’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. 

• Possession of Professional Traffic Engineer Registration in the State of California highly desirable.  

• Municipal professional engineering and supervisory experience highly desirable.  

Minimum Requirements 

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. 

• A minimum of four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience performing program management or project coordination; at least two (2) years of this experience must be equivalent to an Associate Civil Engineer or above.  

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment. 

• Possession and maintenance of a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California or possess Professional Engineer Registration in another state with the ability to obtain California registration within six (6) months.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking a problem-solving, inclusive, collaborative, and good communicator professional with an understanding of engineering principles and terminology, the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, strong mathematical skills for calculations and measurements, and familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols for the role of Engineering Technician I/II.

This position performs various tasks in the office and field, both technical and administrative, supporting the Public Works Department and the City Engineer. The Engineering Technician I/II will be the primary contact person providing assistance and referrals to visitors at the City’s Corporation Yard. The incumbent may be assigned duties related to compliance programs and reporting, engineering projects, and capital projects, which may include project management, development and plan review, calculating fees, issuance of permits, maintaining plan files and engineering records, field surveys, site inspections, information gathering, data analysis, performing mark and locate functions, participating in surveying activities, or other areas as needed. This is a flexibly staffed classification. Ability to hire at Mechanic I or Mechanic II level based on relevant experience. Under supervision (Mechanic I) or general supervision (Mechanic II), participates in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for maintaining and repairing City vehicles and equipment; maintains and repairs gasoline, diesel powered, compressed natural gas (CNG), and electric automotive, heavy and light construction, and other power-driven equipment; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Details:

• Salary range for Mechanic I $23.28 - $29.73 hourly with Excellent Benefits
• Salary range for Mechanic II $29.07 - $37.11 hourly with Excellent Benefits
• Full-time regular position, the schedule consists of a 4/10 work schedule 

Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in mechanical repair or a related field.  

Experience:

Mechanic I: One year of experience performing minor and major equipment repairs.

License/Certificate:

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. Volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of two 24 hour shifts or four 12 hour day shifts each month and complete assigned training.
