The Department:

The Santa Clara Library Department aims to unite our community through possibility, exploration, and education. In a welcoming environment, the Library Department offers the power of knowledge, education, creativity, and inspiration to everybody. Read Santa Clara’s adult literacy program serves adults who seek to strengthen their basic literacy skills to achieve their goals as family members, workers, community members and lifelong learners.

The Position:

The Literacy Technology Assistant helps Read Santa Clara's adult learners gain basic digital literacy skills. The person helps adult learners 1:1 or in small groups learn how to use the literacy program's laptops and iPads as well as how to use literacy software on their own devices. The Literacy Technology Assistant may also be called on to support volunteer tutors or Read Santa Clara staff, as the need arises. The Literacy Technology Assistant is a patient, empathetic individual, who can teach basic technology skills to adults who have little or no digital literacy skills.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Typical Duties:

• Configure and operate Read Santa Clara's devices.
• Maintain the technology inventory, including keeping track of software subscriptions and licenses.
• Meet one-on-one with adult learners who need help with technology.
• Plan and conduct small group classes for learners on basic technology skills and literacy software.
• Check in and check out RSC devices to adult learners.
• Advise volunteers on how to effectively incorporate technology in literacy instruction and assist them as-needed with the online platform used to turn in monthly tutoring reports
• Write user-friendly instructions/create tutorial videos to help adult learners/tutors use literacy software.
• Record data and provide reports of sessions held with learners and tutors.
• Support Read Santa Clara staff, as needed, on specific literacy projects.

The City of San José is recruiting for a Business Automation and Development Services Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) in the Business Automation and Development Services Division of the Information Technology Department. The position requires a highly motivated and self-driven individual to lead a team responsible for the City's Permitting and Compliance System (Granicus GovService Amanda platform), Public Web Portal, Records Management System, Electronic Plan Review System (ProjectDox from Avolve), Business Intelligence System, Queue Management System, and Digital Inspection System. The position will oversee new technology implementations, enhancements, integrations, reports, and application upgrades for all Development Services systems. This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others in an ever-changing business and technical environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid information management experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong management skills, strong collaboration skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and issues. A team leader, team player, and positive attitude are essential to this position.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Understanding of Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement (PBCE) business processes inside a large municipality.
• Planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work related to Development Services applications and systems, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.

Salary Information:The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. Under direction of the Director of Public Works, or designee, the Associate Engineer or Project Manager performs engineering and project management services in the public setting, collaborating with multiple stakeholders. These roles involve a wide range of management functions, including planning, development, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of assigned projects. The position(s) are responsible for managing multiple Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and complex specialized projects or programs. Both classifications provide administrative, professional, and technical assistance to the Department Director, staff, and members of the public as required. The City of San José is hiring an Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) Technical Lead (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) to provide technical support for Oracle PBCS which is used to prepare the City's Capital, Operating, and Revenue Budgets. The PBCS Technical Lead will also support the three custom budget applications: Fees and Charges, Ordinance Tracking, and Budget to Finance ERP Interface and the Budget Office (BO). The BO is responsible for developing and managing the City's operating and capital budgets and service fees and charges. This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and lead others. We are seeking an individual who is willing to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and functional background supporting Oracle PBCS and/or Oracle Hyperion Planning, and multi-dimensional databases with strong analytical skills. In addition, development experience using .NET Framework, Java, or JavaScript to effectively manage and support custom-developed applications is essential. Expertise should cover the entire system implementation lifecycle including gathering business requirements, creating functional and technical designs, application development, and administration.
Key duties include but are not limited to:

• Collaborating with the Budget Office to understand their Oracle PBCS requirements.
• Translating business requirements into technical solution designs.
• Developing new calculations and performance-tuning existing rules.
• Creating and updating existing Financial Reports and Management reports. Creating Smart View ad-hoc sheets for troubleshooting, data analysis, and reporting.
• Applying business expertise in budgeting and planning and functional knowledge in administrating Oracle PBCS.
• Providing recommendations to enhance and accelerate Budget business processes.
• Assisting with configuring data integration, process automation, and interfacing activities.
• Developing materials, documenting technical and functional processes, and providing training to power users.
• Designing, developing, troubleshooting, implementing, and administering the City's Budget applications required to meet the City's planning and reporting needs.
• Ensure the Budget Office applications adhere to IT and the City's Cybersecurity Security policies.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy County Counsel II/III in the Office of County Counsel. Under the direction of the County Counsel and Chief Deputy County Counsel, attorneys in this series perform professional legal work by preparing and trying civil cases and providing legal counsel and assistance to the County, it’s officers, associated boards and commissions, as well as outside agencies; assist departments in interpreting regulations on a wide range of topics; represent officers and employees in litigation; and perform duties as assigned.  The Deputy County Counsel I/II/III classification is flexibly staffed and depending on background and experience, may be filled directly at the Deputy County Counsel II or III level. Involvement in formal litigation and discretionary authority increases as the incumbent progresses through the various levels.

• Researches, interprets and applies laws, court decision, statutes, ordinances and other legal authorities for use in the preparation of legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, notes, and memoranda; prepares legal reports, opinions, briefs and appeals of average difficulty under general supervision.

The Capital Project Manager I-II (CPM I-II) is part of the Engineering & Construction department at Midpen and we have two vacancies. The Capital Project Managers work on the development and implementation of a wide variety of capital improvement projects to increase public access and enjoyment of Midpen lands. While both positions will emphasize capital project management, one will focus on construction management and the other will focus on design. Ideal applicants are highly organized, creative, energetic, self-starters with excellent oral and written communication skills, who enjoy working in an outdoor open space setting within a collaborative group dynamic. Midpen’s Capital Project Managers foster communication and collaboration with other Midpen departments to coordinate project requirements, work with local jurisdictional agencies to fulfill project permitting requirements, interact with project design consultants and contractors, and maintain project documentation.  Midpen is looking for well-qualified applicants who have demonstrated expertise supporting projects from conceptual design through construction. The first of the two positions will focus on construction project management – evaluating the constructability of a project during design, assisting with bidding, award of contract and managing construction oversight to completion. The second position will focus on supporting senior staff with in-house conceptual design of public access improvements for Midpen.

Capital Project Manager I is an entry-level position.  The incumbent will have acquired capital improvement, open space planning and design, land use, natural resource protection, and/or public administration experience, or equivalent education and training.  Assignments are generally limited in scope and set within procedural frameworks. The CPM I is assigned to manage small-scale projects or in support of larger scale projects managed by experienced Capital Project Managers.

Capital Project Manager II is the first experienced-level class in the Capital Project Manager series.  The incumbent performs the basic range of engineering review and construction management duties and/or conceptual design in the following areas: capital improvement, open space / public access, land use, and natural resource protection. The CPM II typically performs most of the duties required of the CPM III but are not expected to function at the same skill level.  Applicants with construction inspection, civil engineering, landscape architecture, project management, and/or construction management backgrounds are highly desired.

Work Environment/Conditions:  This position is part of the Engineering and Construction Department at the Midpen’s offices in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position.

Capital Project Managers will often work in the field and hike through steep terrain and wildland areas with poison oak and wildlife.  Field work will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry. ABOUT THE POSITION
