Staff Specialists perform paraprofessional administrative work of considerable complexity in various areas of public administration.  An employee in this class learns to apply general principles of professional public administration by performing a variety of administrative assignments related to the execution of administrative detail and assisting in departmental administrative service areas.  A Staff Specialist may act as a lead to lower level clerical classifications, but is primarily an individual contributor with a high level of expertise in generalized office administration.  Typical duties and results may include:

• Create surveys and compile data for general or departmental use; create, analyze and prepare reports; abstract written materials; perform statistical and clerical work.
• Participate in budget preparation and review by assembling and analyzing data of operating departments, such as staffing and equipment requests.
• Participate in administering personnel functions such as position control, interviewing, benefits, handling routine grievances, disciplinary actions, classification matters, claims, employee relations, and interpretation of personnel rules and procedures.
• Supervise the maintenance of files and records, including automated recordkeeping systems; developing filing systems and procedures for file use; and ensure irretrievability of filed information.

SMART is a commuter rail system located in Marin and Sonoma counties in Northern California. We are seeking experienced and motivated individuals who want to make a contribution to their community and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team oriented environment. 

Under general supervision, the Vehicle Maintenance Technician position performs skilled preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, primary and secondary repair and modification to mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and components found on commuter rail diesel multiple unit (DMU) vehicles and supporting systems.

This is a journey level classification performing skilled preventive maintenance, scheduled, unscheduled and emergency repair and modification on all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components for the District's revenue vehicles, including related subsystems and components as required by manufacturer maintenance and servicing manuals, Federal and State regulations for locomotive and passenger car maintenance and inspection and District vehicle maintenance procedures.

Inspects, troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs DMU subsystems.

Per Federal Railroad Administration regulations, performs maintenance tasks as specified and scheduled in SMART's DMU inspection, testing and maintenance plan including: daily passenger car/locomotive brake tests; periodic brake equipment maintenance; periodic carborne signaling tests; and passenger car fire safety and on-board emergency equipment and emergency exits inspection, testing and maintenance.

Assures quality control using SMART's Maintenance Management Information System to maintain proper records and generate reports.

Follow FRA regulations applicable to railroad workers.

This position will be responsible for work activities primarily on the Swing and Grave shifts, weekends, and holidays to ensure safe and efficient transportation to the public.

 Position Details:

• Base hourly wage: $44.98 per hour.
• This position is represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).
• There is a 12-month probationary period following appointment to this position.
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Position Summary
Under supervision of the Department Director, the Executive Assistant provides responsible, varied, and occasionally confidential office administrative assistance for the department head and associated supervisory and professional staff members.

This position works closely with the public providing technical information related to a wide variety of public works programs. The Executive Assistant assists in the preparation of contracts, amendments, and purchase orders; recordation of maps, lot line adjustments and other documents with the County; and assists in the public bid process on construction projects within the City.

This class is distinguished from other office support classes by the diversity and consequences of the assigned responsibilities at a department-wide level requiring a broader understanding of City and department functions and the capability of relieving department management staff of day-to-day administrative and coordinative duties. The work requires extensive public contact, the frequent use of tact, discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment, knowledge of City and department activities, policies and procedures, and the ability to conduct independent projects.

This class is distinguished from other office support classes by the diversity and consequences of the assigned responsibilities. The successful candidate for this position will be required to demonstration initiative, independent judgment and discretion in addition to highly developed office administrative skills.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Standard office administrative practices and procedures, including business letter writing, business arithmetic and the operation of common office equipment; recordkeeping, report preparation, and filing methods; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and City staff.

ABILITY TO:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.

COMPENSATION & Benefits:
The salary range for this position ranges from $70,385.12 up to $85,553.55 annually. Placement within the range will be DOE.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position represented by the Los Altos Municipal Employee Association.

The benefits package offered by the City includes:

• Retirement: CalPERS retirement plan for Classic members is 2% @ 60 with employee paying a contribution of 7%. PEPRA employees participate on a 2.0% @ 62 plan, with employee paying 6.75% of the retirement contribution. Benefits based on highest three years of compensation. The City does not participate in Social Security.
• Health Plans: Choice of HMO or PPO plans through CalPERS Health with most family plans covered at 100%. Employees who waive coverage may receive stipend of $350 per month.

Plan Checker I Salary $40.38 – $51.54 per hour

The City of Marysville  is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Community Development Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  Regional Government Services and its staff is conducting this recruitment for the City.

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Community Development Department, including the following Divisions and functions: City Planning, Building, Economic Development, Permit Services, and Code Enforcement (with the Chief of Police).

As the principal administrator of the Community Development Department and City Planner, the Director plans, organizes, directs, reviews, and manages all department activities and functions. Education and Certification

THE POSITION
The City of Dublin is seeking an Executive Aide to perform difficult and confidential administrative duties for the City Manager, Dublin City Council, and other executive level Staff. The work involves extensive public contact and relieving the City Manager of routine administrative duties.

KEY ELEMENTS
