Under direction of the Director of Public Works, or designee, the Associate Engineer or Project Manager performs engineering and project management services in the public setting, collaborating with multiple stakeholders. These roles involve a wide range of management functions, including planning, development, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of assigned projects. The position(s) are responsible for managing multiple Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and complex specialized projects or programs. Both classifications provide administrative, professional, and technical assistance to the Department Director, staff, and members of the public as required. We are currently seeking to hire 1-2 new FTEs.

• Leads, coordinates, schedules, budgets, and reviews activities of the Capital Improvement Project team, support staff, consultants, and contractors; includes overseeing road closures, utility encroachments, and traffic control plans.
   
• Plans, organizes, administers, and coordinates the implementation of Capital Improvement Projects or other City projects; involves reviewing and approving grading and encroachment permit applications, and coordinating project-related activities.
   
• Prepares and may present a variety of periodic progress and special reports related to projects and activities; includes preparing comprehensive technical and staff reports in verbal and written form to commissions, Task Forces, City Council, and other agencies.
   
• Confers and negotiates with stakeholders, business owners, and property owners regarding project impacts, potential right-of-way acquisition, and improvements; includes consulting with public and private agencies, and securing various easements on the City’s behalf.
   
• Reviews cost estimates, interprets plans and specifications for contractors, and determines contractual compliance; involves reviewing and approving utility encroachments and traffic control plans for compliance with City standards.
   
• Responds to questions or complaints related to project activities or policy; includes responding to inquiries from the public and resolving citizen complaints.
   
• Conducts contract bid openings, including review and approval of bid documentation, preparation, and analysis of bid summaries.
   
• Exercises sound, independent judgment in the day-to-day administration of specialized or complex projects and activities; includes overseeing project implementation and ensuring compliance with City standards.
   
• Closely coordinates with project or program stakeholders, consultants, contractors, City Council, and project team; includes coordinating with engineers, contractors, and private owners relative to construction and maintenance of private structures and sewer facilities.
   
• Responsible and accountable for designing and delivering projects on time, within budget, and with excellent customer service; includes providing and maintaining data in the City’s asset management and geographic information systems.

Tri-City is currently looking for one (1) individual to fill a vacancy for the full-time Office Assistant position, within Centralized Scheduling. The Office Assistant is responsible for performing the full range of duties as assigned.

This position will perform the following essential duties, including, but not limited to:

• Primarily will work within our electronic health record and call clients or take incoming calls to schedule appointments and reschedule missed appointments. 

• Complete daily reminder appointment calls. 

• Performs a variety of office support duties related to the assigned work unit; gathers information from a variety of sources, including data systems and clients for the completion and processing of forms, records, and other documents; contacts individuals, other departments, or agencies to obtain additional information.

• Proofreads and checks files including charts and other documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental policies; makes copies, schedules appointments, and types correspondences and memos.

• Collects and maintains client financial information/fees and related documents and enters the information into billing systems; keeps all client financial information updated.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one individual to serve as a Facilities Maintenance Worker for the Facilities Department. The Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for independently performing routine and semiskilled maintenance and repair work. This position will report to the Facilities & Safety Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Performs preventative maintenance and repair of Authority and leased properties; responds to work order requests and keeps reports and records of completed job; conducts daily mail runs for Authority staff.

• Performs skilled and semi-skilled labor related to the maintenance, repair, and modification of buildings and facilities; performs minor carpentry, electrical, masonry, and plumbing work.

• Performs routine painting of interior and exterior surfaces; moves and secures furniture, wall fixtures, equipment, and a variety of floor coverings; determines supplies needs and prepares orders for supplies and materials.

• Ensures cleanliness of the Authority’s interior and exteriors premises, cleans windows, cleans, and sanitizes spills and debris.

• Modifies and repairs plumbing fixtures, including toilets, sinks, or related elements.

• Maintains and restocks emergency and sanitation supplies including water, food supplies, batteries, radios, and other related items.

• Performs related duties as required.

The Capital Project Manager I-II (CPM I-II) is part of the Engineering & Construction department at Midpen and we have two vacancies. The Capital Project Managers work on the development and implementation of a wide variety of capital improvement projects to increase public access and enjoyment of Midpen lands. While both positions will emphasize capital project management, one will focus on construction management and the other will focus on design. Ideal applicants are highly organized, creative, energetic, self-starters with excellent oral and written communication skills, who enjoy working in an outdoor open space setting within a collaborative group dynamic. Midpen’s Capital Project Managers foster communication and collaboration with other Midpen departments to coordinate project requirements, work with local jurisdictional agencies to fulfill project permitting requirements, interact with project design consultants and contractors, and maintain project documentation.  Midpen is looking for well-qualified applicants who have demonstrated expertise supporting projects from conceptual design through construction. The first of the two positions will focus on construction project management – evaluating the constructability of a project during design, assisting with bidding, award of contract and managing construction oversight to completion. The second position will focus on supporting senior staff with in-house conceptual design of public access improvements for Midpen.

Capital Project Manager I is an entry-level position.  The incumbent will have acquired capital improvement, open space planning and design, land use, natural resource protection, and/or public administration experience, or equivalent education and training.  Assignments are generally limited in scope and set within procedural frameworks. The CPM I is assigned to manage small-scale projects or in support of larger scale projects managed by experienced Capital Project Managers.

Capital Project Manager II is the first experienced-level class in the Capital Project Manager series.  The incumbent performs the basic range of engineering review and construction management duties and/or conceptual design in the following areas: capital improvement, open space / public access, land use, and natural resource protection. The CPM II typically performs most of the duties required of the CPM III but are not expected to function at the same skill level.  Applicants with construction inspection, civil engineering, landscape architecture, project management, and/or construction management backgrounds are highly desired.

Work Environment/Conditions:  This position is part of the Engineering and Construction Department at the Midpen’s offices in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position.

Capital Project Managers will often work in the field and hike through steep terrain and wildland areas with poison oak and wildlife.  Field work will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment.

    • Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Geology discipline
    • Professional license (PE, PG, PLA)

Additionally, successful performance requires the ability to independently implement programs, projects, and policies in conformance with generally accepted standards, including possessing thorough knowledge of contract administration, project management principles and supervisory practices.

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.
• Assist in the supervision of children at the child care center or on outings/trips.
