The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications for Child Care Teacher I/II.   

These positions are part-time (20 hours a week) and provide a flexible work schedule. We are looking for candidates that enjoy teaching & working with preschool and school aged children. The working hours are Monday through Friday.

The Position

Under the direction of the Youth and Family Services Administrator, the Senior Program Coordinator plays a unique role overseeing the early childhood mental health program, providing direct counseling services and supervising several staff counselors and interns.

The Senior Program Coordinator typically has specialized experience, training and qualifications that enable the position to work effectively with children 0-8 years, parents and youth caregivers.

The Senior Program Coordinator works closely with the division’s Clinical Supervisors and Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure that clinical services comply with all policies, procedures and legal regulations, and that client services are delivered at the highest standards. The position also coordinates with other key positions in the Human Services Department to help clients have easy and timely access to coordinated services throughout the Human Services Department and/or with other partner agencies.

Examples of Duties

- Oversee and coordinate the direct services under the early childhood mental health program, working closely with the counselors and interns assigned to the program.
- Provide administrative and clinical supervision and consultation to YFS counselors and interns/trainees who are providing direct counseling services to children 0-8 years, parents, and family members, while maintaining close cooperation with the Youth and Family Services Division’s Clinical Supervisors and Quality Assurance Specialist.
- Provide direct counseling and early childhood consultation services to children 0-8 years, parents, and family members.
- Together with the YFS Administrator, understand policies and trends related to the provision of early childhood mental health services; and represent the division at County and/or school district meetings.
- Ensure direct service staff and interns are familiar with and fully utilize client Electronic Health Record System and becomes a key user representative on system implementation team.
- Oversee clinical documentation and compliance with State Medi-Cal documentation standards in partnership with Clinical Supervisors and Quality Assurance Specialist.
- Manage the client intake and referral process for the early childhood mental health program.
- Ensure that staff meet contractual and quality assurance goals and audit requirements.
- In partnership with YFS Administrator, Clinical Supervisors, and the Human Services Department’s Fund Development Officer respond to requests for proposals, develop grant work plans, narratives, and budgets.
- Oversee early childhood grant deliverables and reporting for the division.

The Position

The Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work with individuals and/or families who are unhoused or housing insecure, and who may have complex social and medical needs including health care, financial assistance, employment opportunities, as well as housing assistance. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor, under direction of the division manager of Homeless Care and Response (HCR), and is characterized by the responsibility to provide comprehensive psycho- social assessments and develop and implement care plans. These plans may focus on connecting clients  to public benefits, obtaining budgeting skills, accessing medical care, and obtaining more stable living arrangements. The position works within a team of professionals and will be required to work collaboratively with team members and community partners.  In order to perform responsibilities, the Case Manager will be required to conduct site visits in the company of another staff member in the field to locations where homeless persons may reside,  to medical facilities, and other community locations.

Examples of Duties

- Manage a caseload of clients comprised of individuals with complex medical and co-occurring conditions, including SUD, mental illness, or homelessness.
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments to develop appropriate service plans and monitor them closely.
- Assist clients to develop support systems to maintain independent living, self-sufficiency and family stabilization.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Collaborate with supervisor, team members and other Human Services programs and community agencies.
- Make site visits and provide other community interventions as needed.
- Conduct inter-agency and/or family conferences.
- Provide supportive counseling and advocacy for clients.
- Monitor services provided for each client.
- Maintain timely electronic documentation of services, reporting, and billing.
- Prepare and present training and educational programs and publicity materials.
- Supervise interns in graduate and undergraduate programs placed at HCR.
- Prepare written and statistical technical reports.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, the Communications Officer, as a member of the Police Department, transmits and receives information over the police and public works radio system; dispatches routine and emergency calls for service; types, records, and files information; handles emergency and non-emergency telephone calls utilizing complex technical aids, such as computer aided dispatch systems (CAD), and performs related work as assigned.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Receives emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public for police, fire, or other emergency services; determines the nature of the call and the resources necessary to respond.
• Monitors police radio communications; maintains contact with police units to track officer status and respond to need for additional resources; monitors various radio channels to keep abreast of county-wide police activities affecting the City and assist other county agencies with mutual aid.
• Prioritizes requests for police and other public safety services; determines availability and location of patrol units; transmits information and dispatches police personnel and equipment in response to calls; routes calls for fire and emergency medical assistance to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.
• Assists police personnel in the field by quickly and accurately researching and relaying criminal history information and other requested data.
• Receives and coordinates requests for emergency Public Works assistance outside of the City’s normal business hours (pertaining to full municipal services in Los Altos, and sewer maintenance requests in Los Altos Hills and the surrounding unincorporated areas).

• A minimum of one year of public safety radio dispatching and/or basic clerical experience is required

Education:

• Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Proof of successful completion of either the Criticall Dispatcher test with a passing score or the P.O.S.T. Entry-level Dispatcher Test with a T-score of 50 or above. (Lateral applicants that are currently employed as a Public Safety Dispatcher (non-probationary) do not need to submit proof of test scores, however a California POST Dispatcher Academy Certificate is required.)
• Completion of college-level coursework is highly desirable

Certificates:

• Possession of a typing certificate with a minimum of 50 wpm dated within one year of the application date must be included as an attachment.
• Possession of Basic P.O.S.T. Dispatch Certificate is highly desirable and may be substituted for work experience.

This position will require the ability to work rotating shifts on an on-going basis, including irregular hours on short notice. This position will also be assigned a uniform to wear during work hours.

The Position

The Human Resources Analyst I/II will perform a wide range of responsibilities in the Human Resources Department. The current vacancy will primarily focus on recruitment and examination responsibilities. The Department

The Position

The Human Resources Benefits & Payroll Manager is one of three division level manager positions reporting to the Human Resources Director.  The position is a working manager and has overall responsibility for planning, managing and evaluating the benefits and payroll activities, programs and staff (Human Resources Analysts and Technicians) within the division.  Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and coordinate a diverse portfolio of medical, dental, vision and other employee benefits plans and programs, including short term and long term disability, flexible spending accounts, basic and supplemental life,  deferred compensation and many other benefits plan options.
- Monitor the developments and legislation related to human resources benefits and payroll-related matters, including evaluating the impact upon City operations, and recommends and implements policy and procedural improvements.
- Manage and assist the team with troubleshooting and initiating the appropriate resolution on a variety of benefits and payroll issues.
- Lead and engage the benefits and payroll team to update and modernize administrative policies and processes.
- Manage and coordinate the annual benefits open enrollment process.
- Partner and coordinate with benefits providers and the City’s benefits broker to obtain the best rates and coverages for a variety of products.
- Conduct benefits costing and analysis in support of the labor negotiation process.
- Oversee administrative benefits/payroll activities, which includes benefits billing and reconciliation, audits, CalPERS disability retirements, the City’s retiree medical reimbursement program and responding to public records act requests.
- Manage and facilitate the City’s Deferred Compensation Governance work plan items in partnership with the Deferred Compensation Governance Committee.

DEFINITION

To operate a computer aided dispatch system receiving calls and dispatching police, fire or other City services.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a journey technical level position in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full range of duties assigned. This class is distinguished from the Communications Supervisor in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned communication personnel.

The Communications Center in the Support Services Division of the Hayward Police Department is responsible for dispatching both Police and Fire Services throughout the City of Hayward. The Hayward Police Department is one of 18 CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement) accredited police departments in California and is committed to maintaining CALEA's high standards and broadly recognized excellence.
The Communications Center is frequently the first point of contact that a member of the public will have when requesting assistance from the City of Hayward. The information gathered by the communications operator during this contact is critical to a positive outcome. The Communications Center consists of six (6) stations with each communications operator assigned to a specific job.
 


 

Essential Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

Receives emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, private companies and other jurisdictions.

Dispatches police and fire personnel or other City services in response to such calls.

Relays emergency and non-emergency information to public safety personnel in the field.

Relays information to other agencies as required.

Monitors multiple frequencies.

Maintains accurate record of location and status of public safety units.

Operates a manual dispatch system when necessary.

Assists in relaying information during response to natural disasters.

Performs related work as necessary.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience: Two (2) years of heavy public contact experience while performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Public Safety dispatch experience is desirable.

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Licenses and Certificates: Completion of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Public Safety Dispatcher course is highly desirable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Typing Certificate: A typing certificate with 35net words per minute must accompany your application.
