Ideal Candidate

As an Accounting Technician, you’ll be an integral part of the Administrative Services Department. You’ll take on responsibilities like:

  • Reviewing and processing invoices for city expenditures.
  • Preparing and organizing checks for review and approval.
  • Reconciling daily deposits for accuracy and addressing miscoded entries.
  • Monitoring petty cash accounts.
  • Managing accounts receivable in collaboration with city departments.
  • Preparing 1099s for vendors.
  • Preparing annual reports for external agencies.
  • Assisting with payroll as part of cross-training with the Accountant position.

We’re seeking a candidate with:

  • Knowledge of public and governmental accounting principles and practices.
  • Hands-on experience with bookkeeping and accounting tasks like accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • An Associate of Arts degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • At least two years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a public agency or private firm.

A combination of education and experience that allows you to excel in this role will also be considered.
