JOB ANNOUNCEMENT SECTION:
Applications are being accepted for the position of Parks or Public Works Maintenance Worker Temporary (1,000 hours per fiscal year) with the City of Live Oak. This is a non-benefited, temporary/hourly position.

Hourly Rate: $17.170 - $19.976 per hour
Schedule: 40 hours per week, including both weekdays and weekends, select holidays, and evenings.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision of the Parks or Public Works Lead, performs a variety of duties in maintaining and repairing parks facilities, city buildings, city grounds, swimming pool.
- This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
- Flexible schedule; not-to-exceed 1,000 hours per calendar year.
Part-Time Maintenance Worker - Employee will be assigned 40 hours a week until the 1,000 hours are completed or season has concluded.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:
- Mowing, weed-eating, edges, trimming.
- Cleaning facilities, playgrounds, swimming pool, restrooms and buildings.
- Up keeping fields, courts and other facilities.
- Performing basic maintenance work.
- Up keeping equipment, tools and other supplies in proper condition.
- Maintaining proper tree pruning and trimming on trees.
- Operating all hand tools required for work including: shovels, rakes, picks, hoes, wrenches, drills.
- All other duties assigned.
Ideal Candidate
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Construction and maintenance materials, methods, and terminology.
- The use, purposes and maintenance of hand tools; and the operation of light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment in performing duties.
Ability to:
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to work both in a supervised and unsupervised environment.
- Perform manual labor for extended periods of time; and operate under tight deadlines.
- Lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
- Work flexible hours.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Landscape and/or irrigation maintenance experience is desirable.
LICENCE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)
Possession of a valid California State Driver’s License and good driving record.
