The Montecito Fire Protection District is an independent district that provides fire, rescue and emergency services to the Montecito community. The District is approximately 22.2 square miles in size, ranging from the coastline to the beautiful Santa Ynez mountain range that reaches an elevation of more than 2,700 feet. We serve a community of approximately 9,000 residents.

The Montecito Fire Protection District is funded by a portion of general property tax revenue collected within district boundaries and covers fire protection costs. We are governed by a five-member Board of Directors who are elected by public vote, each serving four-year terms. The District is organized under section 13800 to 13970 inclusive, of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, Fire Protection District Law of 1987.

The District is located in Southern Santa Barbara County, adjacent to the City of Santa Barbara, the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, the Los Padres National Forest and adjacent to the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District.

Mission Statement: The Montecito Fire Protection District is a progressive organization committed to the protection of people, property, and the environment. As part of the community, we exist to provide professional and timely service through preparation for, response to, and recovery from emergencies.
