ABOUT THE POSITION
The Recreation Leader II (After School Coordinator) position provides high-level program support and services through the Parks and Recreation Department, which provides concrete, positive experiences for youth and promotes qualities essential to raising successful young people.
Town ASEP (After School Enrichment Program) is designed for the Town’s elementary school students, providing daily activities and childcare. This position requires minimal supervision and includes the responsibility of ensuring that students are safely escorted to their After School Programs once school ends.
This position may also work additional seasonal events for the Parks and Recreation Department throughout the year.
This position is budgeted at 15-20 hours/week. A general schedule will be set, but the candidate needs to remain flexible to meet the program's needs.
Start Date / Training Dates: August 25, 2025
Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
Program Dates: September 2, 2025 – May 31, 2026.
EXAMPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will serve as the main point of contact for students and act as a liaison between the Los Perales Elementary Faculty and the Town’s After School Enrichment Program.
Organizing instructor payments
Social media communications
Parent communications
Creating marketing materials
Other duties may include, but not limited to:
- Provide communication via email and text with Parents/Guardians
- Provide and set standards for positive discipline and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
- Safely and appropriately supervise students.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment within budgetary guidelines.
- Provide Rosters and Paperwork to all program instructors.
The position will have a home base at Los Perales Elementary, though the ability to stop by the Hacienda before/after shifts may be needed from time to time.
Ensure participants get to and from their classes.
Ideal Candidate
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum age for employment is 18 years.
Energetic, self-motivated, creative, and organized.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Familiar with office software such as Microsoft Office 360, Word, Excel, etc.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Generally, this will require:
Experience:
Two (2) years of work experience, preferably in a customer service-oriented environment or youth recreational activities. One (1) or more years of experience directly working with children and youth is preferred.
Education:
High School Graduate
License or Certificates:
Valid Class C California driver's license.
Current First Aid/CPR Certificate or ability to obtain certificate within 3 months of employment.
