Description
As a Lifeguard, you'll be responsible for keeping swimmers safe both in and around the water, as well as teaching swimming lessons. All applicants will receive training in swim lesson instruction. No prior experience is required, and athletes outside of swim teams and water polo are encouraged to apply!

Hiring Process
Step 1: Apply! A copy of your Lifeguard certification or proof of course enrollment is required with your application.
Step 2: Register for Summer Lifeguard Tryouts at: https://bit.ly/aquahire
Tryout Requirements:
- 300-yard continuous swim (freestyle)
- 50-yard Breaststroke
- 50-yard Back Stroke
- 2-minute tread with hands in the armpit
- 10lbs brick retrieval from 10-13ft of water
- 5 enter and exits from the side of the pool (no ladder)
Interviews will be conducted immediately following the successful completion of your tryout.
Step 3: All new employees must attend the Lifeguard Orientation Training on Saturday, June 7
Position Qualifications
Lifeguard ($17.00-$19.13) Lifeguard
- You must be at least 16 years of age by your start date
- American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification.
Lifeguard II ($17.62-$19.83) Lifeguard II
- You must be at least 16 years of age by your start date
- American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
- A minimum of 140 hours of Lifeguarding experience
Senior Lifeguard ($18.25-$20.55) Senior Lifeguard
- You must be at least 18 years of age by your start date
- American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
- A minimum of 500 hours of Lifeguarding experience
Assistant Pool Manager ($18.92-$21.29) Assistant Pool Manager
- You must be at least 18 years of age by your start date
- American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
- A minimum of 1000 hours of Lifeguarding experience
Successful candidates must pass Department of Justice fingerprint and
Tuberculosis (TB) screening clearances prior to the start of employment.
Benefits
Other than statutory law (CA Paid Sick Leave), there are no benefits for part-time temporary/seasonal positions.
