Description
After School Program Technician I's work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist II. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19-29 hours per week.
The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.
On April 29, 2025, Suisun City Council approved a new contract between the Suisun City RPM Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). This agreement expands after school programming to include to grades TK-5 at Dan O. Root Elementary and Crescent Elementary Schools, making the Suisun City RPM Department the sole provider of after school services at both locations. This is a significant milestone for the RPM department and a reflection of the quality and dedication of our team. We are excited to continue providing high-quality programs for our community's youth.
Ideal Candidate
Paraeducator Minimum Requirements: In accordance with the new FSUSD contract, all after school program employees must meet the following para-professional requirements:
- Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, and
- Must be at least 18 years of age, and
- Must possess one of the following:
- Hold an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or
- Have completed 48 semester units from an accredited college or university, or
- Possess a certificate of completion from a Paraeducator course, or
- Have a passing score on the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam administered by a local school district.
Experience: No experience required. Some experience or participation in recreation or sports programs, cash handling, or working with youth is desirable.
License or Certificate: Possession of a California Class C driver’s license may be required of some positions and the ability to obtain a CPR, First Aid and AED certificate may be required.
Benefits
Employees in the job classes defined as Temporary, Part-Time are subject to the provisions of the City Personnel Rules and Regulations, and the terms of the Temporary / Part-Time Employee Compensation and Benefits Plan.
All Temporary, Part-Time employees are enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS) in lieu of Social Security and accrue up to 40 hours of sick leave per year. Eligibility for other benefits is dependent upon the number of hours worked.
