Location
Description
The City of Marysville seeks a multi-tasking, collaborative team player to work in a fast-paced environment which requires juggling a variety of duties and assignments, while supporting the Community Development and Public Works Department. Specifically, tasks will include:
- Provide high quality customer service to the public both at City Hall counter and over the phone (this will be first priority, multiple phone lines are active and have the potential to be active at the same time);
- Act as the City's cashier for dog and business licenses, parking tickets, boat dock permits, facility permits and other cashiering that may occur in City Hall;
- Assist with City Permit issuance (Building, etc.)
- Schedule meetings for multiple staff members and departments;
- Prepare occasional draft correspondence;
- Submit work orders for the Public Works Staff;
- File correspondence, permits, any documentation for all locations within the City limits;
- Organizing ribbon cuttings and other events;
- Administer city-wide facility rental permits; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills (while at the Counter, on the phone or in person - both with customers and co-workers). Knowledge in Planning is desirable. The candidate will be friendly, cooperative, dependable and a team player.
Working knowledge in the following programs is highly desired:
- iWorQ
- HDL
- Canva
Increased knowledge in the following programs is required:
- MS Office (specifically Word and Excel)
- Outlook
Benefits
Annual Leave (vacation leave) :
Annual leave is accrued based on length of service, with accrual beginning at 10 hours per month with a limit/cap of 250 hours.
Sick Leave:
Sick leave is accrued at 8 hours per month, without a limit/cap.
Holidays:
Employees receive 13 paid holidays per year.
Health Plan:
The City provides a generous plan for health, dental, vision and life insurance. Health insurance is currently provided through Blue Shield or Kaiser. The employee pays 10% of the health premium. Dental and Vision Insurance are provided through Principal, the Employee pays 10% of the premiums. Short and Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance are provided through Mutual of Omaha Insurance, and premiums are paid for by the City, supplemental Life Insurance can be purchased by the Employee.
Certain employees may be eligible to opt out of Health Insurance through the City, a benefit ($275/mo.) will be paid to the eligible employees once required documentation is provided.
All employees are required to enroll in Dental and Vision Insurances.
Retirement:
California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) - two percent (2%) @ 55 formula is used for Classic members or those with a less than six (6) month break in service. The employee pays 100% of the "Employee" share of the premium costs assessed by CalPERS and three percent (3%) of the "Employer" share of the premium cost assessed by CalPERS. Public Employee Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) - two percent (2%) @ 62 formula for new members hired since January 2013 or greater than a six-month break in service. The employee pays 50% of the normal cost rate assessed by CalPERS.
The City of Marysville does not participate in the Social Security Retirement System.
Life Insurance:
City pays the premium for $50,000 in life insurance for the employee.
Agency Shop:
All new employees in this bargaining unit are eligible to join the Teamsters Union and pay a "Fair Share Fee" as a condition of employment.
Special Pays:
Some employees may be eligible for bi-lingual pay and/or education pay (documentation may be requested to support these additional pays).
Special Instructions
This position requires any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. These employment standards would typically be achieved by possession of a high school diploma, or equivalent.
