We are seeking a Special Projects Associate (working title: GIS Technician) to support the Public Works & Engineering Department on a part-time basis. This role is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in local government while contributing to projects that directly impact our community's infrastructure, planning, and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update GIS data using ESRI ArcGIS.
- Create maps and reports for Public Works and Planning projects.
- Assist with asset management and infrastructure planning.
- Provide GIS support to city staff.
Position Details:
- Part-time, averaging 20 hours per week (flexible schedule).
- Cannot exceed 1000 hours within a fiscal year.
- Hourly rate based on experience.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license is required.

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and excited about putting their skills to work in a local government setting. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Some background through coursework and experience in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering or a related field.
- Hands on experience with ESRI ArcGIS software. Experience with AutoCAD or other-related software experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized while working independently
- An interest in public works, infrastructure or local government service.
- Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a team-oriented environment while also being comfortable working on your own.
- Solid communication, research, and analytical skills.
- A valid California Driver's license (or the ability to obtain one) with a satisfactory driving record.

The successful candidate will enjoy the following benefits:
- This is a non-benefited temporary, seasonal or part-time (casual) position.
- Individuals in the position may not work more than 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
- Individuals in the position will receive sick leave in accordance with California State Law.
- Individuals in the position will be enrolled in a MissionSquare (ICMA-RC) 457 Deferred Compensation Program with the employee contributing 7.5%; this retirement contribution is in lieu of participating in Social Security.
