Description
The City of Belmont is seeking an Information Technology Intern for approximately 20 hours a week at Belmont City Hall. This is a non-benefited, part-time/hourly position. The intern position is an in-person opportunity, with flexible hours within the Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 5pm window. This internship is open for applications to current undergraduate students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months).

Hourly Rate
$22.25
*The pay scale for this position is under review for an upward adjustment - pending final approval from the City Council.
The Position
The IT Intern will be exposed to government information technology and will receive on-going support and training while working collaboratively with City staff. They will gain applicable experience and the communication skills to prepare them for an IT Technician job. This intern will also participate in a new website project, cybersecurity initiatives, application administration, and provide hands-on help desk support.
Typical Duties (may include, but are not limited to the following):
- Responding to daily IT help-desk requests
- Engaging in proactive problem solving and repairing of IT related equipment and systems
- Assisting in modifying and maintaining existing applications such as but not limited to Windows 10/11 and Office365 applications
- Supporting, performing research, and executing IT projects as assigned
- Providing user support for software applications and technical expertise to City Staff
Ideal Candidate
Desirable Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have a general understanding of network infrastructure; understanding of Microsoft products such as Windows and Office365; and pursuing a two or four-year degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school with major course work in computer science, information technology, MIS, telecommunications, or related field. The ability to travel between different City locations is required.

This is a non-benefited, part time/hourly position not to exceed 999 hours in a fiscal year.
