Description
Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor’s Aide assists in teaching swim lessons to persons of all ages. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Mandatory pre-season in-service training sessions will be held in June.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in developing lesson plans for aquatic activities and helps maintain pool records, including program registrations and safety reports. Provides First Aid and CPR when necessary and aids in teaching swimming lessons to participants of all ages. Follows city policies and procedures and performs other assigned duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Age Requirement:
- At least 14 years of age
Experience:
- No prior experience necessary.
- Recommended exposure to swimming lessons instruction or working with young people in an organized environment and/or participation in the Junior Lifeguard program.
Knowledge of:
- The City of Woodland’s Swim Lesson Program and basic pool policies and procedures.
Ability to:
- Communicate clearly, both in oral written forms.
- Collaborate well with colleagues and others encountered during work.
- Swim proficiently and showcase various swimming techniques.
Certifications:
- Standard First Aid, CPR in adult, child, and infant (or equivalent)
- American Red Cross Water Safety Aide is recommended.
- Exposure to American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is desirable.
SALARY SCHEDULE
$16.90-$17.90 per hour, based on experience and years of service.

All these positions are temporary part-time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.
The pay cycle is bi-weekly. No other benefits compensations are provided except for worker's compensation coverage and sick leave. Employees must contribute 1.45% of their salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan under Federal Law.
THE ABILITY TO SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND SPANISH IS A DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION FOR ALL POSITIONS.
