Description

The City of Live Oak is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Aqua FIT Instructor for the Parks and Recreation Department. The normal work schedule may vary and include evenings and weekends. 

FIRST DAY OF AQUA FIT IS MAY 5, 2026

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each day is well organized prior to the start time.
  • Continually monitor and assist members to ensure proper form is used when performing exercises during class.
  • Modify specific exercises to accommodate various skill levels and/or physical ailments.
  • Lead and motivate participants safely throughout classes.
  • Set up and clean up all equipment at the end of class and make sure it is placed in its proper location.
  • Follow policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
  • Always maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Ensure that all instruction is carried out with honesty, care, respect, and responsibility.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30PM to 8:15PM.
  • Strong personal skills in planning, organizing, and completing projects with minimum supervision.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive public image by addressing questions and concerns.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively and to read printed material.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with others.
  • This position requires a commitment to the City of Live Oak and its core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and care.

 

Work Environment:

Performs activities in an outdoor pool. Might be exposed to inclement weather outdoors including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and wind. Instructor is exposed to the sun for extended periods. The qualifications and duties listed above, and the physical demands of the position listed, are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and implementing Fitness, Aqua, or Zumba programs and classes.
  • Current CPR and AED certification preferred.
  • Successful completion of an Aqua Zumba instructor training program.
  • Highly motivated and dependable.
  • Friendly and outgoing with great communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • 100% of your time will be on your feet.
  • Walk, stand, kneel, and stoop.
  • Lifting is a requirement in terms of demonstrating exercises within your own weight limitations.
  • Occasional lifting of boxes with supplies, equipment, or promotional items which are typically around 45lbs is also required.

This is a PART-TIME position and is not eligible for City benefits other than those mandated by Federal and State Law.
