The Town of Colma is currently recruiting for the position of part-time Senior Recreation Leader.
- Have you completed a minimum of 15 college units in the area of recreation, education, physical education or a related field?
- Do you have a minimum of two years of experience in a part-time paid recreation position (minimum 1,000 hours per year) or have been employed for a minimum of one year as a Recreation Leader with the Town of Colma?

The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Program elements include fitness, enrichment, cultural events, special events, sporting events, trips, and community events. It is the goal of the Recreation Department to offer a balanced program ensuring all elements are offered to all age groups throughout the year.

Ideal Candidate
WHAT DOES A SENIOR RECREATION LEADER DO?
- Enrolls individuals in recreation classes and enters data into tracking system
- Reserves recreation facilities for residents, taking monies and balancing receipts
- Supervises Recreation Leaders in the absence of Recreation Coordinator
- Assists in preparing schedule of approved activities
- Plans, coordinates and implements recreational activities in specific program areas
- Plans and implements special events and instructional classes
- Prepares publicity releases
- Prepares reports and correspondences including attendance, incidents and accidents
- Reports participants behavior to parents and legal guardians
- Leads specific recreation programs with the assistance of a Recreation Coordinator
- Supervises volunteers and court referral workers
- Performs other duties as assigned
ABILITY TO:
- Represent the Town in a positive manner
- Establish, maintain and foster cooperative working relations with others from diverse backgrounds, including elected officials, co-workers and the public effectively and with courtesy, in person, via e-mail and over the phone
- Follow written and oral instructions and procedures

- Perform light janitorial and maintenance duties
CERTIFICATES
Must maintain CPR/First Aid certificates within 60 days of hire.
Benefits
Part-time/temporary "casual" employees accrue one hour of sick leave per every 30 hours worked up to an accrual cap of 48 hours or six days in accordance with California's Paid Sick Leave Law (AB 1522). No other benefits are offered with this position.
