Established in 1948, the Olivehurst Public Utility District (OPUD) is a Special District located in the unincorporated area of Yuba County. OPUD is responsible for providing and maintaining water and sewer systems, as well as parks that serve the communities of Olivehurst and Plumas Lake. Additionally, the District provides fire protection services and street lighting to the community of Olivehurst. OPUD is situated approximately 30 minutes from Sacramento and Roseville, between two major highways: Highway 70 and Highway 65. Since 2004, the district has doubled in size with the inclusion of the Plumas Lake community and continues to expand.
The Olivehurst Public Utility District operates four water treatment plants, three water storage tanks, a wastewater treatment facility, and several lift stations. We provide water and sewer services to over 8,000 customers and counting.
OPUD manages approximately 75 acres of parks throughout the Olivehurst and Plumas Lake communities. These parks feature amenities, such as playground equipment, soccer fields, baseball/softball fields, spray parks, and the only community pool in Yuba County. As the Plumas Lake community grows, so does the acreage of the parks.
The OPUD Fire Department serves the Olivehurst community, which has approximately 13,500 residents spread over 7.5 square miles. The department consists of 18 personnel and operates on a 2-0 staffing model, working a 48/96 schedule with an average annual call volume of 2,000. The department currently houses seven engines and two utility vehicles. It has also recently acquired three new apparatuses: a BME Model 34 Type III, a Cascade Ram 5500 Tradesman 4x4 Type VI, and a Sutphen Model SPH100 High Rail Aerial.
OUR MISSION: The mission of the Olivehurst Public Utility District's is to provide high-quality services to enhance our community's quality of life.
