GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Service Desk staff provides essential support to the San Bruno RAC by performing front desk operations, assisting members and visitors, and supporting daily facility functions. This temporary, part-time position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves delivering excellent customer service, processing memberships and program registrations, handling payments, and providing information about facility programs and policies. Service Desk staff may also perform facility attendant duties and assist with other tasks as assigned to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and cleanliness of the facility.

 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to members, participants, and visitors.
  • Assist with front desk operations, program registration, and payments.
  • Supervise and engage participants in recreational programs, camps, and activities.
  • Set up, maintain, and clean activity areas, equipment, and event spaces.
  • Monitor facility use and help enforce safety policies and rules.
  • Support program operations and collaborate with staff to ensure smooth facility operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support programs, events, and the RAC.

 

SERVICE DESK (Illustrative purposes only)

  • Greet members and guests in a welcoming, professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
  • Check members and visitors into the facility and verify membership status.
  • Process memberships, renewals, holds, and cancellations according to RAC policies.
  • Register patrons for classes, programs, and activities offered at the RAC.
  • Answer phones, emails, and in-person inquiries regarding facility schedules, programs, memberships, and policies.
  • Process payments for memberships, programs, and facility services while following proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Provide accurate information about RAC rules, policies, and services to ensure a safe and positive experience for all patrons.
  • Monitor access to the facility and help ensure members and guests follow RAC guidelines.
  • Address patron questions or concerns and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service desk area.
  • Assist with distributing program information, schedules, and promotional materials.
  • Support daily administrative tasks including account updates, data entry, and record keeping.
  • Work collaboratively with other RAC staff to ensure smooth daily operations of the facility.
  • Assist other RAC teams (Facility Attendants, Programs, Aquatic) and assist with other tasks as assigned to support the overall operation of the RAC.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. This provision may be waived if applicant is under the age of 18.
  • One year of experience in a job-related field is preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Provide friendly, professional, and responsive customer service.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patrons, staff, and supervisors.
  • Operate computer systems and process memberships, registrations, and payments accurately.
  • Stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced front desk environment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and assist other staff or departments as needed to support smooth operations at the San Bruno Recreation and Aquatic Center.
  • Ability to obtain a current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
