We’re seeking an Current Operations Team Leader to join our dynamic team at SFO’s Airport Integrated Operations Center (AIOC)!

Your Role: As the Current Operations Team Leader, you will be part of a collaborative team responsible for monitoring and managing airport operations as part of the AIOC. Under the direction of the AIOC Shift Leader, the Current Operations Team Leader is responsible for overseeing all current operations-related activities in the AIOC on landside, in the terminal complex and on the airfield. This position is responsible for maintaining awareness, sharing information, and directing tactical responses to current operational issues and impacts in coordination with the Current Operations Section and other AIOC personnel. This position will lead many of the teams directly impacting the attainment of the AIOC Key Performance Indicator standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Current Operations Section including participating in performance management processes and identifying proper staffing and training needs for all personnel in the section, and escalating issues to the AIOC Director for resolution.
  • Provide succinct and clear updates and information in AIOC shift briefings and SFO leadership briefings on the status of current operations.
  • Collaborate with AIOC personnel to identify current operational issues, generate actionable solutions, see the solution through to completion, and document improvement opportunities.
  • Provide real-time reports as needed when an unexpected event occurs and significant changes affecting KPIs, operations, or function performance are detected during the day.
  • Oversee the airport operation in real time, elevating areas of concern proactively within the Current Operations Section and in concert with other AIOC sections; actively drive responses to events that may or are affecting airport operations.
  • Determine best courses of action and launch field response operations to remedy operational issues.
  • Lead and direct field resources to plan ahead and remain prepared for anticipated trouble spots to support future operational periods and shifts.
  • Engage appropriate personnel when a continuity event or disruption occurs that requires focused attention to resolve.
  • Manage information flow in the AIOC to promote constant, comprehensive information sharing between team members.
  • Develop, monitor, drive, and report on multiple KPI standards.
  • Liaise with tenants, airline partners, and government agencies to resolve issues and notify of disruptions.
  • Provide guidance, facilitation, and oversight for Current Operations Section team members to resolve issues.

 

How to qualify

Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND

Experience: Five (5) years of professional airport/aviation work experience in facilities or operations at a medium to large airport.

Substitution:

Education Substitution: Additional qualifying full-time work experience (2000 hours equal one year) as described above may substitute up to two (2) years of the required education. One (1) year of work experience equals to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units.

One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full time employment.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience managing, supervising, training, and coordinating complex functional areas of responsibility.
  • Experience identifying, analyzing and reporting on operational activities and issues and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Experience facilitating best outcomes with stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to utilize and promote a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to proactively identify current and future operational impacts and mitigations.
  • Deep understanding of airport operational environments, stakeholders, and security and airside policies and procedures.
