Description
After School Program Technician I's work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist II. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19-29 hours per week.
The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.
Representative Duties:
• Assisting with planning, delivering, and leading program activities as needed.
• Interacting and leading participants in arts, crafts, games, and sports.
• Supporting the planning and implementation of specialized activities, instructor plans, programs, and events.
• Assisting with curriculum development and planning weekly schedules.
• Checking in participants.
• Scheduling, coordinating, and chaperoning field trips.
• Organizing, teaching, guiding, and directing activities for youth.
• Additional duties as requested.
Ideal Candidate
Paraeducator Minimum Requirements: In accordance with the new FSUSD contract, all after school program employees must meet the following para-professional requirements:
- Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, and
- Must be at least 18 years of age, and
- Must possess one of the following:
- Hold an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or
- Have completed 48 semester units from an accredited college or university, or
- Possess a certificate of completion from a Paraeducator course, or
- Have a passing score on the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam administered by a local school district.
Experience: No experience required. Some experience or participation in recreation or sports programs or working with youth is desirable.
License or Certificate: Possession of a California Class C driver’s license may be required of some positions and the ability to obtain a CPR, First Aid and AED certificate may be required.
Benefits
Employees in the job classes defined as Temporary, Part-Time are subject to the provisions of the City Personnel Rules and Regulations, and the terms of the Temporary / Part-Time Employee Compensation and Benefits Plan.
All Temporary, Part-Time employees are enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS) in lieu of Social Security and accrue up to 40 hours of sick leave per year. Eligibility for other benefits is dependent upon the number of hours worked.
