The Town of Los Gatos is a premier community at the western edge of the Santa Clara Valley. The Town consists of 14 square miles and is located on the lower slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains near San Jose, and is approximately 50 miles south of San Francisco. The Town has many parks and greenbelt areas and is 30 minutes from the Pacific Ocean and recreational activities of the Santa Cruz area. Los Gatos is also near the major cultural and professional athletic events in San Francisco and San Jose.

Los Gatos is a picturesque and charming Town of enterprising citizens proud of who they are and protective of where they live. There is a high level of community pride as demonstrated by many community-based organizations which work to retain Los Gatos’ exceptional living environment. Unlike many of the suburban communities in the Bay Area, Los Gatos has its own identity. Los Gatos prides itself on being a “self contained community” even though it borders a major metropolitan area. It is a close knit and friendly community where people take time to get to know each other. The public expects high quality municipal services.

The Town of Los Gatos is a general law city with a five-member Council. The Town’s 155 employees are organized into the following departments: Town Manager, Community Development, Community Services, Library, Parks & Public Works, and Police.

The organizational values for the Town of Los Gatos include being committed to serving the Community, working together in Collaboration, valuing and pursuing Creativity, and approaching our work and each other with impeccable Character.
