Description
The Town of Truckee is seeking a Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability to play a vital role in leading a number of the Town’s community-facing programs and services. Reporting to the Town Manager and serving as a key member of the Town’s executive leadership team, the Director of Neighborhood Services will serve as a Department Head with areas of oversight including housing, solid waste, sustainability, short-term rental management, and the Town’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) program.
The Neighborhood Services and Sustainability Department is the Town’s newest department, responsible for leading several community-facing programs and services. The Department’s work is dynamic and fast-paced with opportunity for creativity and innovation in program and service delivery. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, emotionally intelligent, energetic, fun and creative strategic leader who understands public policy, municipal operations, and the unique challenges and opportunities of a maturing local government organization. They will bring a proven record of fostering strong relationships—both within the Town organization and with the broader community—and will excel at building trust through open, respectful, and transparent communication. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for working effectively with elected officials, regional and state leaders, partner agencies, staff, and community members.
