ABOUT THE POSITION

Have you ever wanted to work 10 miles from Lake Tahoe and 5 miles from the nearest ski resort?   Take your stand-up paddle board out on a glassy mountain lake before work?  Get in trail rides on your mountain bike on your lunch break?  Fly-fish for trophy trout after work?  Have work-life balance and be part of a community just named as one of the 10 best US ski towns to live in year-round?  The Town of Truckee is seeking its first ever Deputy Town Attorney.  Come join the Town of Truckee team and experience a different way of life in a four-season resort community surrounded by endless outdoor recreational opportunities.

The Deputy Town Attorney will work with the Town Attorney to support the Town Council, Town Manager, and all Town departments.  The Town anticipates that the Deputy Town Attorney will work especially closely with the Community Development Department, including the Planning Division and code enforcement staff. The ideal candidate will be an experienced municipal law generalist with five years of professional legal experience as an attorney, have extensive California planning and land use experience, and an understanding of California’s evolving laws regarding the development of housing.  We are seeking an attorney who can quickly assess legal issues, identify options for action, employ creativity and problem-solving skills, and communicate equally effectively with elected and appointed officials, Town staff at all levels of the organization, members of the public, land use applicants, and opposing counsel.  This position is well suited to someone who is collaborative, able to work at a fast pace, with exceptional interpersonal skills and a real desire to serve the community.
