Description
The Woodland Community Services Department is seeking applications for part-time Lifeguard / Instructor's Aide positions. Under general supervision, Lifeguards will provide a safe environment for all aquatic programs, help prevent loss of life or injury to patrons, and perform related maintenance duties as needed. Some evening and weekend hours are required, and mandatory pre-season in-service training sessions will take place in June.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Enforces pool rules and regulations; rescues individuals in distress and provides First Aid/CPR as needed; maintains pool records and reports, including program registrations and safety reports; adheres to City policies and procedures; and performs other assigned duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Age Requirement:
- At least 15 years of age.
Experience:
- No prior experience is required.
- Recommended experience includes exposure to swimming lesson instruction, working with youth in an organized environment, participation in the Junior Lifeguard program, or experience as an Instructor's Aide or Lifeguard.
Knowledge of:
- Familiarity with lifeguard rescue and life-saving techniques.
- The American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program and basic pool policies and procedures, or equivalent.
Ability to:
- Demonstrate all lifeguard training skills effectively.
- Swim proficiently and showcase various swimming techniques.
- Communicate clearly in both oral and written forms.
- Collaborate well with colleagues and others encountered during work.
Certifications:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training with CPR and First Aid (or equivalent)
- Ability to obtain training in First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 equivalent)
SALARY SCHEDULE
$18.00 - $19.00 per hour, based on experience and years of service.

All these positions are temporary part-time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.
The pay cycle is bi-weekly. No other benefits compensations are provided except for worker's compensation coverage and sick leave. Employees must contribute 1.45% of their salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan under Federal Law.
