This position may be filled at either the Management Analyst I or II level, depending on experience and department needs.

Ideal Candidate
- Provide analytical and strategic support to the Public Works Director, City Engineer, and Public Works Services Manager
- Monitor and report on capital improvement project budgets
- Track grants and special funding sources that support key initiatives
- Help develop and manage budgets and financial forecasts for Public Works
- Analyze expenditure and revenue trends; prepare clear reports and presentations
- Manage the rate‑setting process for sewer service and solid waste fees
- Coordinate and develop agreements with external agencies and consultants
- Conduct research, surveys, and studies that inform department operations
- Assist with contract administration, financial tracking, and compliance tasks
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners on data and projects
- Support audits, documentation, and process‑improvement efforts
- Take on special projects and contribute to overall department administration
Examples Initiatives You May Work On:
Support development of the FY 2026-27 Public Works Department budget
Assist with establishing updated sewer rate service rates and financial forecasts
Help create and track a RethinkWaste compliance and reporting program
Contribute to development of a stormwater funding strategy
Support improvements to the Public Works asset management system
Assist with Municipal Regional Permit (MRP) reporting and regulatory compliance
Represent Public Works in coordination with regional partners such as RethinkWaste
Coordinate APWA Reaccreditation program process
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, especially when working with complex operational and infrastructure projects.
Clear and confident written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical information for a wide range of audiences.
Skill in prioritizing and managing multiple assignments in a fast‑moving, service‑oriented environment
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team that supports citywide goals
Experience in budgeting, accounting, finance, or other work that supports data‑driven decision‑making
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public administration, business, finance, civil infrastructure, or a related field
Prior experience in local government public works or public service is a plus

Special Instructions
Application Screening
All applications will be reviewed and the most qualified applicants will be selected to continue in the selection process. The selection process may consist of, but is not limited to, the following: 1) Application Screening 2) Practical Skills Test 3) Panel Interview and 4) Department Interview.
