THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist.
Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ
Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position
Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.
Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell
Responsibilities:
- Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;
- Prepares and implements work-outs;
- Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
- Maintains various records;
- Organizes and attends swim meets;
- Evaluates stroke technique;
- Assists with budget preparation;
- Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
- Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.
In addition, the essential functions of employment include:
- Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
- Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;
- Documentation including daily participant attendance;
- Planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation;
- Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.
- Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
- Valid California Driver’s license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
- TB Clearance.
- Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.
Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring:
- Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA
- Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training.
