Swim Teach Coach

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with

supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

The Position: The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking

an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim

Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center.

Responsibilities: This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist and is responsible

for swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist.  This position prepares and

implements work-outs; tracks and encourages team enrollment; maintains various records;

organizes and attends swim meets; evaluates stroke technique; assists with budget preparation;

has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care;

complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services

Department policies and procedures.

The essential functions of employment include: Assistance in developing, organizing and

supervising daily operations and practices; assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team

program; documentation including daily participant attendance; planning, execution and

evaluation of swim meet participation; professional interaction and effective communication with

children, swimmers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.

• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience

• Valid California Driver’s license.

• Current CPR certification.

• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.

• TB Clearance.

• Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell

will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring: 

• Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA

Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training. 

Selection Process: The most qualified applicants as determined by initial screening of
