The City of Dixon is actively recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our dynamic Department of Engineering/Utilities. As a rapidly growing community with significant development in both business and residential sectors, this is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our city. The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing engineering work related to the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of public works projects. The role also includes the dynamic responsibilities of transportation planning, supervisions of contracts/projects, and management for the successful operation of the City’s wet utilities (water, sewer, and drainage). SELECTION PROCEDURE:

REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS: Applications will be reviewed weekly, typically on Mondays. Once a sufficient number of applications are deemed eligible for advancement, the selection process, outlined below, will commence.
EXAM PROCESS:
A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in an interview process. Note: The examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.
EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING:
Candidates selected for hire must successfully complete and pass the following: a personal background investigation, and a pre-employment medical examination. All appointees are required to successfully complete a 12-month probationary period, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS will be applied. A copy of the DD214 form must be filed at the time of application.

Ideal Candidate
Candidates should be specific about field of study or major coursework in the supplemental questionnaire.
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Typical ways to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of two years of responsible professional level civil engineering experience similar to an Associate Civil Engineer with the City of Dixon.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
Possession of a current certificate of registration as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer issued by the State of California.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform tasks requiring: sitting, standing, walking; occasional exposure to chemicals, skin irritants, fumes and solvents; generally inside work with occasional outside work with exposure to weather, odors, dust and pollen; the use of sense of smell; acute hearing to distinguish audible alarms; finger and hand coordination; use of computers; and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for job assignments; must comply with respiratory protection program and Cal OSHA standards.

BENEFIT INFORMATION
CalPERS TIER DEFINITIONS - MOU INTERPRETATION OF CALPERS TIERS
CalPERS Annuitants will be limited to only 960 hours in a fiscal year and this position is full-time.
Retirement:
CalPERS Retirement System (2 % @ 60 formula for Classic CalPERS members and 2% @ 62 formula for new CalPERS members). The City does not participate in social security
Medical:
CalPERS Medical Insurance Plans, including HMOs and PPOs. City gives an allowance toward the cost of insurance. Maximum Family Medical Benefit Allowance (2025): $2,025 per month
Bilingual Pay:
$125 per month upon certification
