Building Maintenance Worker I/II (HVAC & General Maintenance)

The Department
The mission of the Maintenance Operations Department is to enhance the community by providing high quality maintenance services through the maintenance of safe and effective transportation systems and public infrastructure that support a desirable quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors, and to support the City organization with efficient and effective services for City buildings and fleet vehicles.
The Positions
The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide HVAC maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Building Maintenance Workers (HVAC) design, fabricate, inspect, install, troubleshoot and evaluate problems with HVAC equipment. They also repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related apparatus. Additionally, they install, repair and/or replace controls for energy management system as well as perform preventive maintenance and sheet metal work, including design and fabrication.
The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is also seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide general maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Maintenance tasks for the general assignment typically include painting, electrical repairs, wall repair, roof repair, carpentry/metal work, and floor repair.

Selection Process
The process may include an online multiple-choice exam (tentatively scheduled for the last week of July), individual and/or panel interviews, professional reference checks, fingerprint check for criminal history, pre-employment medical exam and other related components. Only those candidates who have the best combination of qualifications in relation to the requirements and duties of the position will continue in the selection process.
