The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical skills, certifications, experience, and professional attributes suited to complete a full range of journey level mechanic work by performing preventative maintenance, repair and overhaul of gasoline, diesel, alternative fuel, hybrid and electric, heavy duty vehicles and equipment that includes but not limited to fire engines and pump systems, fire trucks including large trailer aerial ladder trucks, gang mowers, aerial work platforms, and construction equipment such as loaders, graders, dump trucks, back hoes, asphalt trucks, trailers, rollers, street sweepers, air compressors, and off road equipment.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Senior Engineer to help manage design of a wide variety of capital improvement projects to update, modernize and improve City infrastructure. As the Senior Engineer, you will help us plan, design, and build infrastructure to support the City goals and objectives of creating a more sustainable, healthy, and livable Sunnyvale. The current open position is in the Department of Public Works Engineering Division and is with the design team in the Project Administration Section. Senior Engineers are working managers. The position primarily works on managing design of a wide variety of capital improvement projects, possibly including pavement rehabilitation, parks renovation and enhancements, or water and sewer utility projects. The position oversees consultants and leads a team of other City engineering staff.

The eligibility list created from this recruitment may be used for future Senior Engineer vacancies within the City.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field, AND

Five years of increasingly responsible professional civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering experience, depending on assignment, including experience in a supervisory or project management role.

Licenses/Certificates

Possession of registration as a professional civil or structural engineer issued by the State of California.

THE POSITION:

The City of Hayward is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to oversee its centralized financial operations. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this executive role provides leadership in accounting, budgeting, treasury, revenue collection, licensing, purchasing, and data systems. The Director serves as the City's Chief Financial Officer, managing the preparation and oversight of the annual operating and capital improvement budgets, ensuring audit compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls. Additionally, the role advises the City Manager and Council on fiscal matters, promotes transparency and efficiency, and leads a dedicated team committed to service excellence and innovation. The Director also acts as Treasurer-Controller for the East Bay Dischargers Authority and supports programs such as the Rent Review Board. 

Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs difficult and varied accounting clerical work in support of either accounts receivable or accounts payable activities; compiles, reconciles and verifies general financial and statistical data; performs related work as required.  Employees in this class typically function either in Accounts Payable or in Accounts Receivable.  In either assignment, established policies, methods and procedures are followed when processing and maintaining financial data and records, although employees must exercise judgment in resolving job-related problems within these parameters.
