The Department: 

The Mayor and Council office is a division of the City Manager’s Office. As an integral part of the City Manager’s Office, the Mayor and Council division provides administrative support to the City Council and general customer service to constituents and external stakeholders. The Santa Clara City Council consists of the Mayor elected at-large, and six City Councilmembers elected by City Council district.

 

The Position: 

The Executive Assistant is an executive-level support position responsible for interacting effectively with the public, elected officials, City management and key department staff. The position will provide administrative support including calendar management, oversight of event and meeting coordination, managing travel arrangements, administration of office budget, and managing a wide range of complex administrative duties with initiative, independence, while supporting management staff and elected officials. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.

 

This class is distinguished from other office administrative classes by its direct reporting relationship to the City Manager and its broader continuing interfaces with political and elected officials, department directors, other government agencies, private business representatives, City staff, and the public. The ideal candidate must be able to handle non-partisan confidential matters with a high level of judgement, practice confidentiality and discretion. Overview:

We are seeking a Water Plant Operator to join Valley Water’s South Treatment Operations Unit. This position will perform the duties of a state-designated shift operator in the monitoring and operation of a water treatment plant, to provide relief operations shift coverage and, as necessary, to perform the duties of an Assistant Water Plant Operator. The Water Plant Operator will use the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control plant operations. They will be responsible for analyzing data to ensure compliance with all State and Federal drinking water standards and performing administrative procedures. The Water Plant Operator will train and sign-off training checklists for lower-level operations staff. They will perform scheduled and emergency plant shutdowns and start-ups. Additionally, they will complete safety trainings and follow safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• As the state-designated shift operator, oversee all plant activities on an assigned shift; maintain situational awareness of, or assist in, maintenance, engineering, and construction work, special projects, contractors, non-plant Valley Water employees, and all plant visitors; represent the treatment plant with personnel located offsite such as retailers, regulators, other Valley Water plants and support units, and other water agencies; direct the activities of the operator on shift; and formulate production and quality related decisions.

• Serve in the role of Relief Operator on as needed/rotational basis. 
• Train lower-level operator staff; sign off on training checklists.

Ideal Experience:

• Proficient in water treatment math and chemistry 
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), SCADA, Maximo.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Understanding of key regulations, reporting procedures and requirements of drinking water 
• Knowledge of safe work practices around water treatment plant chemicals and equipment
• Knowledge of practices and responsibilities of leading the work of assigned staff

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by six (6) quarter units in chemistry and six (6) quarter units in math from an accredited college.

Required License or Certificate

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Risk Analyst to join our highly collaborative and dedicated team in advancing the Housing Authority’s risk management and insurance programs. The Risk Analyst will have the opportunity to expand their expertise in risk management, insurance programs, and property mitigation. We strive to promote voluntary compliance, with a focus on education to increase public awareness of the city's regulatory expectations. Working together with property owners and business operator, positive and lasting results are achieved to benefit the Gilroy community. 

 

FIRST YEAR PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:

• Learn and understand the City of Gilroy code enforcement processes and help solve problems to foster community pride. 
• Engage in real-world code enforcement assignments by working on active cases and assisting in clearing the backlog to ensure safe and well-maintained neighborhoods.
• Participate in specialized training and obtain certifications to enhance your expertise and knowledge of code enforcement.
