What's the Role and What You'll Do
We’re looking for a highly motivated, reliable and skilled individual to join the Public Works Department as a Public Works Inspector I/II. Working with the City’s Engineering and Public Services teams, you will inspect work quality and materials used in a variety of streets and utilities infrastructure, public works construction projects, and development projects to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications, and departmental regulations. What You'll Do
Review plans and specifications of assigned project; attend preconstruction conferences as assigned.

Inspect a variety of public works improvements such as utilities, streets, sidewalks, gutters, and other off-site construction; check line, grade, size, elevation, and location of structures for conformance with specifications and regulations.

Inspect a variety of public works construction projects such as City parks, traffic signals, roadway improvements, utilities, and building renovations. Verify conformance with project plans / specifications, and measure field quantities for payment.

Observe work during progress and upon completion; ensure that safety procedures are followed.
Monitor, inspect, and approve completion of work done under an excavation permit; ensure that all specified conditions are met.

Perform related duties as assigned.
 

The Essentials

Public Works Inspector I

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade with courses in drafting and related mathematics.
 

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
 

Three years of public works construction experience.
 

Public Works Inspector II

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade supplemented by courses in civil engineering or construction management.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.

Eighteen (18) months public works inspection experience equivalent to Public Works Inspector I in the City of Mountain View.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Civil Engineer or an Engineer II (dependent on qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The Senior Civil Engineer classification is an exempt, mid-management level position. 

The Engineer II will play a critical role in designing, managing and delivering Capital Improvement projects that improve essential city infrastructure. Although this position is dedicated to CIP, in order to appropriately respond to community needs, the Engineer II may also provide support to the Land Development and Transportation engineering sections, so adaptability and flexibility are keys to success in this position. The Engineer II is a journey-level position that will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer or City Engineer and will perform professional engineering work in the field and office. The Public Works Department is responsible for providing high quality, safe and effective maintenance, operation and construction of streets, parks, storm drainage and related infrastructure. The Department is under new leadership with a renewed focus on master infrastructure planning, proactive capital maintenance and replacement, traffic engineering and customer service. Pipeline public projects include completion of the Civic Center Master Plan, design and bid of the new Santa Teresa Fire Station, a $7 million pavement rehabilitation project, a $3 million San Ysidro Park remodel project, and completion of Traffic Impact Fee Study. The City is processing multiple large private projects including an almost one million square foot Amazon data center as well as multiple residential subdivisions and multi-family projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting a full-time Engineering Technician/Inspector at level I or II or III (depending on experience and qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The position will support the engineering staff with technical tasks for public works improvements, public works projects, and land development projects, and will entail a mix of technician and inspection duties. The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City of Santa Clara. The Santa Clara City Library operates three facilities, a virtual branch through a website, and a bookmobile. The Library provides a collection of virtual and physical books and resources, services and programs, public internet access, adult literacy and English as Second Language classes for the Santa Clara community. Services and programs are free and open to all.

The Santa Clara City Library is seeking an enthusiastic and community-oriented Librarian with a strong public service commitment at the Mission Branch Library. This Librarian will provide library service, information, and programming for all ages, and may be responsible of the branch in-lieu of more senior staff. Constant contact and collaboration with patrons of all ages, including those with diverse backgrounds and abilities, are part of the daily duties of this position.  

This is a limited-term appointment of 30-40 hours/week for up to 6 months. As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

The Position:

Accounting Technician I

This is the entry-level class within the Accounting Technician series in the classified service. Performs basic accounting work including the maintenance of financial records, systems or transactions. Performs related duties as assigned.

Accounting Technician II

This is the second level classification in the Accounting Technician series. Performs advanced paraprofessional accounting work including the maintenance of financial records, systems or transactions. Interfaces with other City departments, auditors, business entities, governmental jurisdiction and general public, giving and receiving information regarding area of financial responsibility. May perform more complex processing and reconciliation work and related duties as assigned.

The annual salary range for Accounting Technician I is $78,600.72 - $100,518.12. The annual salary range for Accounting Technician II is $82,479.24 - $105,722.40.  This position will be filled at or near the bottom of the salary range.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Accounting Technician I

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;
• Two (2) years of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting);
• Experience with electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
• Experience with online financial systems.

Acceptable Substitution:

College coursework in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience in Finance/Accounting on a year for year basis.

License/Certifications:

None

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with on-line financial and/or payroll systems;
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Other Requirements: 

• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
• May be required to work unusual hours and weekends in the performance of their duties.

Accounting Technician II

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;
• Three (3) years of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting);
• Experience with electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
• Experience with online financial systems.

Acceptable Substitution:

College coursework in a related field can be substituted for the required work experience in Finance/Accounting on a year for year basis, up to two (2) years.

License/Certifications:

None

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Other Requirements: 

• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
• May be required to work unusual hours and weekends in the performance of their duties.
