The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• State of California EMT or National Registry EMT certification
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations
• Possession of a Firefighter I Academy certification (or proof of “student in good standing” letter signed by an Academy Instructor if currently enrolled)
• 18 years of age at the time of application

This position entails 10 to 20 hours per week, with shifts available during weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Position Summary

The Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer plays a key role in providing essential fitness instruction and personalized training programs to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals. The responsibilities include instructing group fitness classes, offering personal training sessions, designing customized fitness programs for clients, ensuring safe and effective exercises, motivating and encouraging participants, providing feedback and adjustments to exercises, and monitoring clients' progress for continuous improvement. This role will also be providing excellent customer service, addressing fitness-related inquiries, maintaining a positive and motivating environment for everyone, and ensuring the fitness facility is clean, safe, and fully operational. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.  

• Certification in personal training or group fitness instruction required (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).  

• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or a related field preferred.  

• Experience in group instruction and one-on-one training is highly desirable. 

Knowledge and Skills

This position requires a knowledge of general fitness principles, exercise techniques, and wellness practices, instructing and motivating individuals or groups in a fitness setting, excellent communication to provide clear instruction and positive feedback and assessing client needs and creating individualized fitness programs. The position also requires ability to operate and maintain fitness equipment safely. 

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

• Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization.

The Principal Development Services Inspector classification is a single position classification allocated to the Development Services Division of the Department of Planning and Development.

The Principle Development Services Inspector is distinguished from the Senior Building Inspector and Supervising Construction Inspector in that the Principal Development Services Inspector is assigned continuing full supervisory responsibilities over the Senior Building Inspector and Supervising Construction Inspector, professional, technical and support staff; coordinates the activities of inspection operations across the Building, Land Development Engineering and Fire Marshal sections of the Development Services Division; whereas the Senior Building Inspector is responsible to supervise a phase of the inspection program and to perform the more difficult or more specialized inspections. The Supervising Construction Inspector is responsible for a major segment of a program area of construction projects and for supervising staff.

Position Summary

Under general direction, performs responsible professional level engineering and administrative work in connection with a wide variety of engineering projects. May lead professional and paraprofessional engineering personnel engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects.  Assist Directing Civil Engineer in training and providing guidance to Junior through Associate Engineer classifications and Inspector classifications. • Prepares reports, calculations, design plans, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and other materials related to the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects and refers them to their supervisor for final approval
• Prepares and refers to the District Engineer or designee, contract documents and agreements for the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects with professional engineering consultants, contractors, utilities and governmental agencies
• Confers with other departments and agencies relative to engineering projects and work programs to ensure proper coordination of all related activities and responsibilities
• Makes field trips and inspections to resolve serious differences of opinion between engineers and contractors' representatives as they relate to design matters
• Conducts and attends conferences and meetings in connection with planning and design of improvement and construction projects
• Ability to use computers including proficiency with spreadsheets
