The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Senior Engineer to help manage design of a wide variety of capital improvement projects to update, modernize and improve City infrastructure. As the Senior Engineer, you will help us plan, design, and build infrastructure to support the City goals and objectives of creating a more sustainable, healthy, and livable Sunnyvale. The current open position is in the Department of Public Works Engineering Division and is with the design team in the Project Administration Section. Senior Engineers are working managers. The position primarily works on managing design of a wide variety of capital improvement projects, possibly including pavement rehabilitation, parks renovation and enhancements, or water and sewer utility projects. The position oversees consultants and leads a team of other City engineering staff.

The eligibility list created from this recruitment may be used for future Senior Engineer vacancies within the City.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field, AND

Five years of increasingly responsible professional civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering experience, depending on assignment, including experience in a supervisory or project management role.

Licenses/Certificates

Possession of registration as a professional civil or structural engineer issued by the State of California.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Transportation Planner to help keep the Sunnyvale transportation network safe and efficient while planning for future growth. The position will mainly develop, launch, and manage the City's new citywide microtransit service. This includes coordination with the microtransit/shuttle service provider, with the internal Communications team on branding and marketing, and the grant program administration agency.  The position will also respond to citizen concerns and comments about the service, perform outreach related to the service, manage the program budget, ensure grant program requirements are met, and look for grants for future program funding.

Under general direction, this position may also assist in current and long-range transportation planning for the City. The position may also manage and review land development traffic studies; perform level of service analyses for intersections and arterials using computer models like Synchro, and Vistro; apply for grant funds; and perform other duties as assigned.
 
The City is seeking a Transportation Planner with strong project management, analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, along with proficient oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have an excellent ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams; the ability to prioritize and deliver results in a constantly changing environment; and a proven ability to establish effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and vendors.

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• State of California EMT or National Registry EMT certification
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations
• Possession of a Firefighter I Academy certification (or proof of “student in good standing” letter signed by an Academy Instructor if currently enrolled)
• 18 years of age at the time of application
