What's the Role and What You'll Do
We’re looking for a highly motivated, reliable and skilled individual to join the Public Works Department as a Public Works Inspector I/II. Working with the City’s Engineering and Public Services teams, you will inspect work quality and materials used in a variety of streets and utilities infrastructure, public works construction projects, and development projects to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications, and departmental regulations. What You'll Do
Review plans and specifications of assigned project; attend preconstruction conferences as assigned.

Inspect a variety of public works improvements such as utilities, streets, sidewalks, gutters, and other off-site construction; check line, grade, size, elevation, and location of structures for conformance with specifications and regulations.

Inspect a variety of public works construction projects such as City parks, traffic signals, roadway improvements, utilities, and building renovations. Verify conformance with project plans / specifications, and measure field quantities for payment.

Observe work during progress and upon completion; ensure that safety procedures are followed.
Monitor, inspect, and approve completion of work done under an excavation permit; ensure that all specified conditions are met.

Perform related duties as assigned.
 

The Essentials

Public Works Inspector I

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade with courses in drafting and related mathematics.
 

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
 

Three years of public works construction experience.
 

Public Works Inspector II

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade supplemented by courses in civil engineering or construction management.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.

Eighteen (18) months public works inspection experience equivalent to Public Works Inspector I in the City of Mountain View.

Bonus Points

One year as a construction foreman or public works inspecting experience.

Registration as a California construction inspector.

Possession of a Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) certificate.

The Department

The Community Services Department strives to improve the health, wellness and quality of life for Fremont residents by offering a wide variety of exceptional educational and recreational programs and services, historic and cultural resources, facilities, unique attractions, special events, park use and urban forestry.

The Position

One position will be filled as either an Associate Landscape Architect or a lower level Landscape Architect/Designer II, depending upon qualifications and fit. Both positions will perform professional-level landscape architectural work related to the design, construction, and rehabilitation of landscape and irrigation for parks, landscaped areas, and street and urban design projects. In addition, the Associate level incumbent will serve as project manager, team leader and/or supervisor, and consultant manager for site development of city facilities and private developments.

Examples of Job Duties

• Using prescribed methods and procedures, incumbents perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced landscape architect.
• Prepare plans for planting, irrigation, site plans, grading, and layout for parks and median projects.
• Review and approve minor site development plans submitted for development approval for conformance with plans, specifications, and ordinances.
• Grant application and administration.

Under direction of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official, performs complex residential and commercial inspections of buildings and structures in various stages of construction, alteration and repair for compliance with applicable building, accessibility, energy and zoning codes and ordinances; responds to inquiries from the public, applicants, contractors and other City staff and departments; performs related duties as required.

The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications to fill two (2) Mechanic vacancies in the Fleet Services Section of the Maintenance Service Division. A Mechanic performs maintenance and repair services on heavy/light City vehicles/equipment, such as fire trucks, automobiles, construction equipment, street sweepers, lawn mowers, stationary generators; and performs other duties as assigned.

This is the journey level classification in the Mechanic series. The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported at regular intervals by supervisory review and direction.

The Position

The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and consultants for conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements; prepare and administer grants and give professional advice on landscape matters.

Examples of Job Duties

• Organize and oversee the landscape design and layout of parks, recreational areas, roadway medians and pedestrian ways.
• Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of professional City and contract staff.
• Perform professional landscape architectural work including preparing landscape plans, coordinating master plan development, performing park planning, and preparing related specifications, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Recommend design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City.

Under general supervision of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official or designee, performs complex and detailed inspections of structures for conformance to codes, ordinances, approved plans, calculations and specifications; reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications for compliance with codes, ordinances, energy and disabled access requirements; conducts investigations of suspected violations of the Municipal and Building codes, including code enforcement; may assist in training other Building Inspectors and providing direction to other technical and/or clerical staff, including temporary; employees. The Challenge

As a Police Officer your duties will typically include patrolling assigned areas; interacting with the public; conducting criminal investigations; enforcing laws; investigating collisions; preserving the peace and writing reports. You will be assigned to one of three shifts spanning the 24-hour day and these shifts will periodically change. In the Patrol Section you will work three 12 hour and 20-minute workdays and have four days off. If you are assigned to any other Section, you will work four 10-hour workdays with three days off. As your skills develop you may be assigned to investigations; community policing,; traffic; canine; bicycle patrol; Special Weapons and Tactics Team; narcotics; or school resource officer.

ABOUT THE POSITION
If you are passionate about ensuring quality and safety in engineering projects and want to make a real difference in the community, we have an excellent opportunity for you. The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting a full-time Engineering Technician/Inspector at level I or II or III (depending on experience and qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The position will support the engineering staff with technical tasks for public works improvements, public works projects, and land development projects, and will entail a mix of technician and inspection duties. The goal of the Engineering Division is to promote a better quality of life for those who live, work, and visit the city of Gilroy through the provision of efficient engineering services and the creation of orderly growth and development within the city.

EXAMPLES OF ONGOING PROJECTS

• Provide inspection support to various Capital Improvement Projects, to include water and wastewater projects. 
• Coordinate inspection efforts with consultants and outside agencies.
• Process and review various public works permits.
• Administer the Sidewalk Repair Program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
