Definition: Under supervision, to provide facility support to recreation programs, activities or services; understands and adheres to facility policies and procedures; and performs related work as required.  This temporary part-time non-benefited position works an average of 5 - 25 hours per week during the program year.  Available shifts are Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons/evenings.

Essential Duties:  Depending upon assignment, the duties of a Facility Attendant - Recreation Leader I, II or III may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Organizes, inventories and maintains necessary facilities and materials.
• Open, close, and secure recreation facilities.
• Set up and tear down tables and chairs.
• Follow set-up directions specific to each activity and event.
• Maintains group and individual discipline, and code of conduct.
• Perform light maintenance to maintain equipment, rooms, and the overall appearance of the facility and picnic rental sites
• Provide quality customer service to all instructors, participants, and renters
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Special Requirements:   Vision adequate to perform room set-ups and take down; speak clearly; ability to bend stoop or crouch; physical stamina to complete all set-up related activities; ability to work off-hours, shifts or events as required; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.

Education & Experience: 

Recreation Leader I:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 15 at time of appointment.  Must possess a work-permit. No previous experience required.

Recreation Leader II:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 16 at time of appointment.  Equivalent to three (3) months of full-time experience (approximately 500 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience in recreation programs or equivalent. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable. 

Recreation Leader III:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade.  Equivalent to six (6) months full-time experience (approximately 1,000 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience equivalent to a Recreation Leader II with the City of Millbrae. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable.

Certificates:  Must possess a first aid/CPR certification or be willing to obtain one. 

Service Standards:  

Must successfully complete background process.  All candidates will be fingerprinted pursuant to California State Law.  All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.

• Reviews sewer video inspection data.  
• Interprets survey data, utility, and engineering plans. Prepares construction plans (using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD) and specifications.  
• Assists in the construction management tasks.  
• Reviews material specifications and submittal and analyze test results.  
• Performs basic engineering calculations.  
• Performs quantity take-off and prepare cost estimates.  
• Review and issue permits for construction activities within the public right-of-way, which includes driveway/sidewalk, sewer lateral connections, utility trench and other public encroachment applications. 
• Respond to general Public Works customer inquiries through telephone, email messages, and in-person or virtual counter visits. 
• Coordinate with Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement in the review of building permit applications and plan check appointments. 
• Review building permit applications for Public Works clearances, such as onsite grading/drainage work, flood hazard, geological hazard, and public street improvement requirements.

Technician position for the Radio Communications Shop. The Radio Communications shop maintains the communication system for the City of San José that is used by multiple departments, such as: Police, Fire, Department of Transportation, Parks Recreation Neighborhood Services (Park Rangers), and Public Works (Animal Care & Services). The City of San José public safety and city services depend upon the use of commercial radio communications equipment. For police officers and firefighters, radio communications are the primary means of communicating with the 9-1-1 dispatch center in performing their duties. The key responsibilities of the Communications Technician may include:

The City of Newark is looking for General Laborer to be an integral member of the Maintenance Division within the Public Works Department. Under supervision the incumbent will perform tasks to include general cleaning and maintenance of city parks to include planting of trees, shrubs, pruning, fertilizing and watering, mowing and edging turf areas, as well as trash removal from parks, roadways, and medians. This active laborer will remove graffiti, install signage, and assist in the cleaning of storm drains.

Experience and Training 
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

THE POSITION

The City is currently seeking General Maintenance Workers. This temporary position works with the City’s maintenance staff to perform: unskilled labor in the parks and landscape medians, street and sidewalk maintenance, street sign maintenance, and fleet building maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to: raking, emptying trash cans and litter removal, irrigation repair, weeding, edging, street sign maintenance and graffiti removal. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Architect, implement, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot various security systems that protect the City’s networks, IT/OT systems (including SCADA), applications and critical infrastructure.
• Design, organize, modify, install, secure and support security infrastructure; and provide technical support for network and security issues associated with enterprise applications.
• Analyze both raw and processed security alerts, logs and event data to identify potential security incidents, threats, mitigations, and vulnerabilities.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, stooping, and intermittently climbing stairs and/or ladders to rooftops and walking rooftops perimeter in the performance of daily activities. Position and Duties

Senior Maintenance Workers perform under direction, plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of large crews engaged in semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance and repair of parks, landscaping, and public facilities. • Completes work order forms, daily activity logs, timecards, requisitions, vandalism reports, water use records, purchase orders, and supply records; conducts and documents crash, injury, and near-miss investigations.
• Directs and participates in the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems on ground and turf areas, and park areas.
• Conducts safety meetings; performs periodic safety inspections on vehicles and crews.
• Implements and maintains preventative maintenance schedules.
• Provides bids for repairs, renovations, and new installations of parks, sports fields, community centers and library landscapes.
• May supervise and provide lead direction in weed abatement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

May be required to work alternate shifts, including weekends, evenings, holidays, overtime, and on call.
