SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under immediate supervision (Wastewater Operator I) or general supervision (Wastewater Operator II), performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of the City's sanitary sewer system and wastewater treatment plant.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Wastewater Operator I - This is the entry level class in the Wastewater Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Wastewater Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Wastewater Operator II - This is the full journey level class within the Wastewater Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Wastewater Operator I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and they are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Operate and adjust controls on treatment plant equipment and machinery, such as valves, pumps and motors.

2. Grease and clean plant equipment; read and interpret meters and gauges; regulate plant effluent.

3. Monitor, repair, and maintain wastewater system lift stations; remove debris; disassemble and clean pumps; perform minor repairs when necessary.

4. Respond to emergency calls as needed; locate problems and operate sewer cleaning equipment to clear stoppages. 

5. Collect samples and perform various lab tests.

6. Inspect and make repairs to plant equipment.

7. Perform general plant maintenance work such as sweeping, cleaning, sanding and painting of equipment and facilities.

8. Assist in operating video inspection system.

9. Perform general grounds maintenance work.

10. Rod sanitary sewers; install and repair sanitary sewer laterals and trunk lines.

11. Enter and work in permitted confined spaces and underground trenches.

12. Locate, mark and notify sewer lines per USA (underground service alert) requirements.

13. Observe and enforce safety precautions. 

14. May temporarily be assigned to work with other City departments as needed.

15. Operate trucks, tractors and other motorized equipment of comparable size and complexity.

16. Perform related duties as required. 

General

The ADA Analyst is responsible for ensuring accessibility compliance across our bus stops, transit centers, vehicles, and facilities for San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) and Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Authority (Caltrain).  Under the direction of the ADA Administrator, the successful candidate must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and maintain strong working relationships with staff, consultants, and the public. A solid background in ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance, accessibility standards, and/or building codes is essential.

Essential Functions & Duties

• Support the ADA Administrator in the development, coordination, and implementation of the ADA Transition Plan and Self-Evaluation.
• Ensure accessibility considerations are integrated into agency planning, operations, and capital projects.
• Serve as a technical resource to staff, consultants, and project teams on ADA and CBC accessibility requirements.
• Monitor and track compliance with applicable accessibility codes, regulations, and standards.
• Contribute to creating a culture of accessibility, inclusivity, and continuous improvement within the agency.

• Conduct field evaluations of bus stops, shelters, transit facilities, and rights-of-way for ADA and CBC compliance.
• Review project plans, construction documents, and specifications to verify accessibility compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to planners, engineers, and project managers during design and construction.
• Respond to accessibility inquiries and assist in the resolution of ADA-related complaints.
• Prepare clear written reports summarizing field findings, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate record-keeping systems and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to address accessibility issues and support project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in accessibility compliance, ADA analysis, building inspection, or directly related field.
• Professional working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessibility standards.
• Able to conduct field inspections in San Mateo and neighboring counties.

• Able to possess a valid CA driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, consultants, and the public.
• Experience reviewing project plans or documents for ADA compliance.
• Professional experience in compliance measures or enforcement of ADA requirements. 
• Experience developing site-specific construction designs or plans. 
• Experience with field construction and trade work.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external customers and diverse stakeholders including disabled individuals, regulatory agencies, and public advocacy groups. 
• Experience using accessibility evaluation tools, hardware, and software to assess compliance and identify accessibility issues proactively.

Overview:

Valley Water is seeking an Associate Water Resources Specialist to provide professional-level analytical and technical support for complex water supply planning and imported water initiatives critical to Valley Water’s long-term water reliability.

The Integrated Marketing Program Manager reports to the Deputy Chief, Communications and is responsible for developing the campaign timeline, project scope, and messaging strategy for a multitude of communications projects for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), Peninsula Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA), and the 101 Express Lanes Project (SMCEL).

• Assist the Deputy Chief with developing industry standard rubrics utilizing market research to define campaign objectives, create compelling and creative programming, execute on campaigns, and report on results.

• Perform ongoing project management, oversight, and budget monitoring for communications and marketing projects.

• Prepare marketing campaign reports. Track campaign metrics (CTR, conversions, ROI), evaluate outcomes against targets, and recommend optimizations.

• Act as primary point of contact for marketing and communications projects with external stakeholders about regional marketing campaigns as necessary.

• Manage shared data and documentation using SharePoint and District Hub as necessary.

The San Mateo County Family Justice Center is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Forensic Interviewer - Spanish/English Bilingual Skills Required.  

The San Mateo County Family Justice Center is a newly created one-stop holistic service and support center for families and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of abuse.   The mission of the Center is to support survivors and their families by creating a single destination to receive crucial services and support. 

A division of the County of San Mateo’s District Attorney’s Office, the Family Justice Center (Center) is designed to be a County-run multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service center where both public and private partner agencies will assign staff on a full-time or part-time basis to provide services from one location. The Center’s focus is to reduce the number of times survivors tell their story, reducing the number of places they must go for help, and through active collaboration with community-based organizations, increasing the quality of services and support they receive.

The Position

The work of the Forensic Interviewer is an integral part of the services the Center offers.  Under the general direction of the Director of the Family Justice Center, the Forensic Interviewer conducts neutral, legally sound, developmentally and culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed interviews of children, teens, and vulnerable adults who are victims or witnesses to child abuse or neglect, violence, exploitation, or other crimes referred to San Mateo County’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC).  

Using nationally recognized protocols, the Forensic Interviewer gathers accurate and developmentally appropriate information while minimizing re-traumatization. Interviews are structured to support criminal investigations and may be used as evidence in court.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), the Forensic Interviewer collaborates closely with law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and advocates to ensure a coordinated, victim-centered response. The Forensic Interviewer is also responsible for thorough documentation and may provide expert testimony in legal proceedings. The role is essential in bridging the needs of the justice system with the safety and well-being of victims.  In addition to conducting interviews, the Forensic Interviewer will also attend regular peer reviews, monthly case reviews, and other meetings and trainings as required.

This is an opportunity for a committed public servant with extensive experience to support some of the County’s most vulnerable residents.  This position requires bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

• Provide information, crisis intervention, resource referrals and support to children and adolescents and their non-offending family members, as needed, and in collaboration with partner agency personnel.
• Participate regularly in Forensic Interviewer peer review and skills-based continuing education in forensic interviewing.
• Participate in monthly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and case reviews.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies personnel with case tracking and data collection. 
• Work on MDT projects and committees, as necessary.
• Testify in criminal and dependency court as a percipient witness for cases in which they conducted an interview
• Assist in the delivery of educational presentations, upon request.
• Attend forensic interviewer peer review a minimum of four times per year
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The Family Justice Center is recruiting a Forensic Interviewer who can provide both the technical and relationship-driven dimensions of the Center. Candidates may have more experience in some areas than others, but successful hires will have at least five years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, or Human or Social Services and demonstrate these core competencies:

Technical Knowledge

• Principles, practices, and techniques of forensic interviewing. 
• Current trends in investigations related to dependency, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, sexual assault, and child and elder abuse laws.

• Completion of an NCA-approved Child Forensic Interview Training course upon hire or within six months of hire.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Some college coursework in psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice or other closely related field; and five (5) years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, and Human or Social Services; or
• Possession of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences with an emphasis in psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice or other related field; and three (3) years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, and Human or Social Services.
• Substitution: Possession of a master’s degree in social sciences with an emphasis in psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice or other related field; and one (1) year of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, and Human or Social Services.

SALARY 

The anticipated hiring range for the Assistant Analyst position is $80,594 - $100,743 annually, with a full salary range up to $120,892. The City typically makes offers within the hiring range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Analyst within the Facilities Division of the Finance Department. This position supports the analytical, administrative, and operational functions of the Facilities Division, which oversees City Hall, the Civic Arts Plaza theaters, libraries, and other municipal facilities.

This role supports a range of analytical and operational responsibilities, including contract administration, procurement preparation, budgeting support, and data analysis. The Assistant Analyst applies analytical judgment to manage vendor contracts, prepare draft staff reports and RFP materials, and analyze operational information to support effective facilities operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to exercise discretion and independent judgment while balancing multiple priorities.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Serve as a key administrative and analytical point of contact for the Facilities Division, ensuring accurate documentation, data integrity, and coordination across functions
• Conduct analytical research on vendors and suppliers, including cost comparisons, service levels, and performance metrics to support procurement decisions
• Monitor, evaluate, and analyze service contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance, performance accountability, and alignment with operational needs
• Assist with budget development, forecasting, tracking, and reconciliation by analyzing facilities-related operational and financial data
• Support contract and vendor management by tracking deliverables, evaluating vendor performance, and identifying opportunities for service and cost improvements
• Prepare analytical summaries, staff reports, correspondence, and data-driven materials to support facilities operations, projects, and policy decisions

The Environmental Services Manager is a member of the Public Works Department, reporting to the Public Works Director, and exercises independent judgment in managing the City’s Environmental Services programs. Responsibilities include overseeing waste management, recycling and organics recovery, stormwater, energy conservation, climate protection, sustainability, sea level rise adaptation, and Climate Action Plan implementation.

The Manager directs program development, provides technical expertise, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Duties include analyzing environmental data, preparing regulatory reports, supporting the Hazard Mitigation Plan, managing the Environmental Services budget, securing and administering grants, and overseeing contracts. The position represents the City in interagency, regulatory, business, and community settings, serves as liaison to waste management franchise holders, and supports public outreach and policy initiatives in support of City environmental goals.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Administration, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Planning, or a related field, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management.
• A Master's degree is desirable.

License and Certificate:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
