ABOUT THE POSITION

The Executive Assistant/Deputy District Clerk independently performs a full range of highly responsible, confidential, and complex administrative duties to a small team of Executives. Additionally, this classification supports the District Clerk in preparing and delivering the District Board agenda packets, meeting notices, resolutions, and related materials;  coordinating District election processes; provides administrative support maintaining the District’s records management system; attends Board and Committee meetings and facilitates streaming technology; and functions as the District Clerk in their absence. WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Executive Assistant/Deputy District Clerk will be required to attend evening Board/Committee meetings. Meetings may be held in Los Altos or offsite.  This position is part of the General Manager’s office at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work environment for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by two (2) years of college-level coursework in business or secretarial science and
• Three (3) years of responsible secretarial experience involving assisting executive management or a high-level officials with administrative duties.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

GENERAL INFO  
  

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II performs routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard. They also provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties relating to aquatics. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of aquatic patrons, facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.   

 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Applicable to all roles; Illustrative Purposes Only)  

Monitor the swimming pool and enforce safety regulations.  

Assist with aquatics programs, special events, and facility upkeep.  

Test and maintain pool water chemistry.  

Set up and tear down for classes, programs, and events.  

Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.  

Work outdoors in sun, rain, or wind as needed.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Public Works Superintendent within the Department of Public Works. Under the direction of the Field Services Manager, the incumbents will be responsible for the field services of the Public Works Department. They will plan, organize, and direct the work of field personnel and perform related work as required. The incumbents will be assigned to oversee various subdivisions such as Streets, Streams, Storm Drains, Street Lighting, and Motor Pool programs.

 

THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program.

 

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the Calera Creek water treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. DEFINITION

Under direction, manages the field services of the Public Works Department; to plan, organize, and direct the work of field personnel, including Parks, Trees, Streams Streets, Buildings, Rangers and/or Motor Pool Divisions.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISITCS

This is a management class with major responsibilities for the City’s Parks, Trees, Streams Streets, Buildings, Rangers and/or Motor Pool maintenance programs, that requires significant independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines. This position assists in the strategic planning, organization, and management across multiple operational units.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Field Services Manager or designee. Exercises general supervision over supervisory, professional, technical and administrative support staff through subordinate levels of supervision.

Under general supervision (Hydrologist I) to direction (Hydrologist II) performs collection and analysis of hydrologic and meteorological data in support of the Agency’s mission to provide reliable water supply for irrigation, groundwater management, flood control, and power generation; ensures minimum flow requirements to maintain water rights; and performs related duties, as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision (Hydrologist I) to direction (Hydrologist II) from the assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff. 

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Hydrologist I: This is the entry-level classification in the Hydrologist series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform routine hydrologic data collection, while learning Agency policies and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult; close supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates skill to perform the work independently. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the Hydrologist II-level but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. 

Hydrologist II: This is the journey-level classification in the Hydrologist series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Hydrologist I-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Senior Hydrologist in that the latter performs the more complex work assigned to the series and provides technical and functional direction over lower-level staff.

Positions in the Hydrologist class series are flexibly staffed; positions at the II-level are normally filled by advancement from the I-level; progression to the II-level is dependent on (i) management affirmation that the position is performing the full range of duties assigned to the classification; (ii) satisfactory work performance; (iii) the incumbent meeting the minimum qualifications for the classification including any licenses and certifications; and (iv) management approval for progression to the II-level.

This is an exempt position that reports directly to the Information Systems Supervisor. The Help Desk Technician/Senior supports the Information Systems Supervisor in the delivery of services across the Agency to provide for and manage business technology and information system hardware and software, maintenance, end user support and training, and the planning and specification of business technology. This position is the Agency’s primary first-level IT support and assists end users and consultants with a variety of technological hardware and software needs, including assisting staff with selection, installation, integration, maintenance, and support of technology needs.

Work is performed within a broad framework of general policy and requires creativity and resourcefulness to accomplish goals and objectives and to apply concepts, plans, and strategies in ways which may deviate from traditional methods and practices. The new position supports the allocated $2 million Hydrologic Data Measurement and Management Project within the Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Geomorphology Unit which provides basic modeling calibration Surface Water data for Valley Water’s Flood Control and Groundwater Recharge programs, and many other internal/external customers. This entry level Hydrographer I position is required to support continuing expansion of the current 210 location surface water monitoring network including new gages for SB88 water rights reporting, and Water Supply Operations requirements.

• Operating and maintaining stream/reservoir/precipitation/water temperature stations including installation, calibrating, operating, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic dataloggers/sensors and radio telemetry.
• Performing stream flow measurements in all ranges of flow to create, update, and maintain stream flow rating curves.
• Obtain, process, compute, analyze, interpret, and evaluate hydrologic data while operating and maintaining a specialized hydrologic database and completing an annual station record.

• Performing surveying at stream gaging stations utilizing differential leveling.

• Learn methods and techniques involved in gathering and analyzing data related to surface water use.
• Learn to operate and maintain a specialized application interfacing a hydrologic database. for inputting and analyzing hydrologic data.
• Aware of applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
• Read and interpret maps, charts, graphs, plans, drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
• Respond to information from Valley Water employees and outside customers.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Some knowledge of basic principles and theories of hydrology, geology, and meteorology
• Some knowledge of scientific data collection and proper field notes .
• An introduction to operational characteristics of mechanical current meters and/or acoustic flow measurement devices, telemetering equipment, and other mechanical and electronic devices.
• Principles of sciences/mathematics including algebra and trigonometry.
• Principles of analytical report preparation.
• State Senate Bill 88 (measuring and reporting the diversion of water).

Training and Education:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, geology, hydrology, hydraulics, sciences, or a related field. 

 

Required License or Certificate

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license. Individuals who do not meet the driver's license requirement due to a disability will be considered for a reasonable accommodation on a case-by-case basis.

Hydrology, Hydraulics and Geomorphology Unit (Position Code 281)

Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite. 

THE POSITION

Tri-City Mental Health Authority is currently hiring to fill two (2) full-time vacancies for the position of Peer Support Specialist I/II (PSS) within the Mobile Crisis Care Program (MCCP). This position requires individuals to work on-site 5 days a week from 9:00am to 5:30pm, until training is successfully completed. Once fully trained, your schedule may adjust based on team needs and role requirements. 

Tri-City is looking for individuals to serve as a Peer Support Specialist I/II on a full-time basis for the MCCP. The MCCP Peer Support Specialist will be part of a team that provides crisis intervention and stabilization, linkage and referral, consultation, and education within the scope of practice. The MCCP Peer Support Specialist will report to the Mobile Crisis Care Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Program Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

• Respond to client's (Full-Service Partnership and Adult and Children’s Outpatient Programs & other specialty mental health services) crisis calls with or without law enforcement;

• Perform field-based & telephone emergency mental health evaluations & crisis stabilization in accordance with agency procedure;

• Provide crisis intervention & stabilization services to individuals, groups, and families;

• Identify treatment needs & make appropriate referrals for necessary services;

• Perform triage & linkages to non-client community members in the Tri-City catchment areas. Provides peer-to-peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, & referrals to external resources & services for clients & their families; builds rapport with clients & their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery.
