THE POSITION

The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the temporary, part-time position of Preschool Teacher and Substitute Preschool Teacher to work in programs located at various City facilities. DEFINITION

To perform a variety of duties related to planning, implementing and teaching age appropriate activities and/or programs for preschool age children at assigned City facilities.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Stimulate interest while teaching and supervising program activities such as social activities, organized games, special events, arts and crafts, drama and sports

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Basic knowledge of understanding of the preschool aged child with regard to interests, skills, special needs, recreational activities and program planning of such activities.
• Practices and methods of public relations and customer service; techniques and principles of effective interpersonal communication.
• Modern office equipment, methods, procedures, and computer hardware and software.
• Principles and techniques of first aid and CPR.
• Principles and practices of safety management.
• Report writing techniques.

Ability to:

• On a continuous basis, know and understand operations and observe safety rules; interpret, understand and follow policies and procedures, and explain operations and problem solve issues for the public and with staff.
• Intermittently set up booths, hang banners, move tables, chairs and carry supplies; lift or carry weight of 45 pounds or less.
• Lead a variety of activities and apply knowledge to an actual preschool program and the children therein.
• Understand and translate City policies and practices into everyday working practices; make sound decisions with solid problem solving methods.
• Supervise, train and evaluate assigned temporary staff.

Experience:

• Two (2) years of work experience in a preschool setting.

Training:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree and completion of twelve (12) college units in early childhood education.

License or Certificate

• Possession of CPR and First Aid certificates within 6 months of hire.

Training:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree supplemented by completion of twelve (12) units in early childhood education, recreation, physical education, elementary education or related field.

License or Certificate

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment. 
• Possession of CPR and First Aid certificates within six (6) months of hire.

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree supplemented by completion of twelve (12) units in early childhood education, recreation, elementary education or related field or six (6) units completed and enrolled in at least three (3) qualifying units per semester until twelve (12) units are completed.

The City of Dixon Recreation and Community Services Department is accepting applications for one (1) position of Assistant Pool Manager for the 2020 Aquatics Season.

The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill six (6) positions of Senior Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor positions for the 2020 Aquatic Season and to establish an employment list for possible future use. 

Under the direction of the Assistant Pool Manager, Pool Manager, Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Manager, Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill thirty (30) Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor I/II positions for the 2020 Aquatic Season and to establish an employment list for possible future use. 

Lifeguard Training w/ Title 22 available in Dixon April 6, 2020 to April 10, 2020.  Click here to sign up.  This course includes certification in Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED for Lifeguards and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 First Aid). All candidates must be 15 years of age and pass a swimming pre-test during the first class.

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. Supervises pool patrons, enforces pool rules, performs first aid and emergency rescues, instructs swim lessons, performs cashiering duties, leads recreational activities; performs related and other work as required.

This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

Employment Processing: Those selected are subject to pre-employment drug testing and fingerprinting. In accordance with Federal law, an employee must provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.

Veteran's Preference Points: Veteran's Preference Points will be applied in accordance with the City's Personnel Rules & Regulations. A copy of the DD214 form must be filed at the time of application.

Library Supervisor III (Eligibility List)
Bilingual Preferred but not required
Non Exempt, Represented, Full- Time
$ 77,106-$103,334 per year (DOQ)

The Library Supervisor III is the most senior supervisory classification and oversees more complex library operations.  This recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list for current and future Library Supervisor III openings that occur within the next 12 months.  We currently have Library Supervisor III openings.

Basic Function:
Plans, organizes, and supervises the operations of a medium to large branch library, a Central library division, or a major system function, such as collection management; ensures that the library provides community-focused services through outreach and partnerships; provides supervision and leadership to unit or branch staff.

Education and Experience Requirements
• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university
• Three (3) full-time  years’ experience as a professional librarian with two (2) of the years in a supervisory capacity
• Experience providing programs to youth and fluency in a foreign language is desirable
