As a Legal Secretarial, you will provide highly complex, responsible, and confidential administrative support to the office of a lawyer. Assist in the supervision of a small team of legal secretaries or serve as a lead worker; as well as perform other related duties as necessary.

The Office of the City Attorney for the City of San José is seeking an
experienced trial lawyer for the position of Chief Deputy City Attorney.
This position serves as the lead trial attorney for the City’s most
challenging cases, has supervisory responsibility for cases assigned to
Deputy and Sr. Deputy attorneys, and provides leadership, guidance
and training to the City’s litigation team.
The total salary range is $189,488 to $286,979. This amount includes
an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.
Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications
and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be an active member of the State Bar of California.
The Office seeks applicants with a minimum of 10-years civil trial
experience in both state and federal courts. A public law background,
emphasizing municipal law, is highly desirable. The successful
candidate is an accomplished trial lawyer and demonstrated leader who
develops and maintains collaborative teamwork, and inspires
confidence in clients and colleagues.

The Custodian, Lead position is located in the Facilities Division at the General Services Agency. This position performs a variety of custodial / janitorial duties in assigned buildings in the County and provides lead direction over a crew of custodians. This is the advanced journey level classification in the Custodian series.  It differs from that of Custodian in that the Lead Custodian provides direction to a crew of workers in addition to performing typical custodian assignments.  This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 
 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision while providing lead supervision and training to the custodial/janitorial crew.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Keeps an assigned building and surrounding area clean.  
• Performs general custodial duties, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, buffing and polishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets; spot cleaning carpets; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms; cleaning / dusting furniture, appliances and other surfaces; polishing furniture and other wood surfaces; cleaning glass windows and doors; cleaning metal surfaces; emptying ash trays and trash cans, etc.
• Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent bulbs.
• Performs exterior cleaning duties, including but not limited to cleaning / sweeping exterior walkways, porches, steps, etc.; removing trash and debris; cleaning door mats; washing exterior windows; removing cobwebs, etc.
• Removes graffiti, gum, and other hard-to-remove objects as needed.
• Secures doors and windows; turns lights on/off.
• Reports building maintenance and repair needs to appropriate staff person(s).

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the County-wide classification of Legal Services Specialist. The vacancies exist within the County Counsel’s office and the Probation Department. Under general supervision, the incumbent performs varied and specialized confidential legal support duties, requiring thorough knowledge of the assigned department, division, or program, its procedures, and operational details; provides administrative support to legal staff; assists with calendaring and scheduling; composes and prepares correspondence using judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing, data entry and organization, recordkeeping, statistical and technical report preparation, and filing; prepares legal documents; assists in case coordination and filing of documents in a timely manner; and performs related duties as assigned. The Legal Services Specialist is a County-wide classification. The employment list established from this recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies in other departments.

Examples of Duties:

• Perform legal and administrative support duties related to the assigned functional area and department.
• Draft decrees, orders, judgments, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, contracts, briefs, ordinances, and other legal documents, correspondence, memoranda and reports, depending upon the office to which assigned, from notes, brief instruction, dictated tapes or printed materials.
• Verify, code, edit, enter, file and retrieve legal data and prepare reports using a computer system following established format.
• Verify, code, calendar and schedule court dates, meetings, and appointments for attorneys; file or arrange for the filing of documents, legal briefs and other necessary paperwork with the court.
• Process a variety of legal agreements, contracts, etc., following attorney's instructions.

TYPING CERTIFICATE REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION:

• Minimum Net 40 words per minute.

• Must indicate results from a 5 minute test that isn't more than 12 months old.  

DEFINITION

Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for multiple Town facilities by completing various tasks, including mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant, and emptying trash cans or recycling bins.

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• Flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekend work; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

General supervision is received from the Maintenance Services Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:                      

• Cleans mirror surfaces with window cleaner.
• Takes out the trash and recycling.
• Wipes down and sanitizes surfaces.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education:

Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Graduation from high school or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

At least one (1) year of professional cleaning experience is desirable.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid California State Driver’s License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire and good driving record.

The Position

The City Attorney’s Office provides legal advice to all City Departments, the City Council and all Boards and Commissions. In addition, the City Attorney’s Office provides risk management services through the Risk Management Division. The Paralegal position is responsible for the preparation and management of complex legal documents and performs specialized legal administrative services at the direction of the professional staff in the City Attorney's office. Job Responsibilities

The San José City Attorney’s Office is looking for senior level trial attorneys with substantial civil experience in state and federal court, excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
