The City of Thousand Oaks Public Works Department is seeking an Assistant Analyst to support the Sustainability Division in advancing the City’s sustainability and energy initiatives. This position plays a key role in managing and analyzing complex data related to energy, water, waste, and electric vehicle infrastructure, while supporting implementation of the Climate and Environmental Action Plan (CEAP).
The Assistant Analyst assists with benchmarking, reporting, GIS mapping, and coordination of external energy programs, as well as contract development and tracking funding opportunities to ensure compliance and maximize program impact. Through public outreach, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement efforts, this role helps advance innovative solutions that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and the City’s long-term sustainability and environmental goals.
SALARY
The anticipated hiring range for the Assistant Analyst position is $80,594 - $100,743 annually, with a full salary range up to $120,892. The City typically makes offers within the hiring range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing sustainability data, including energy, water, waste, and EV charging
- Assist with the development of dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for internal and public use
- Support sustainability benchmarking, ongoing reporting, and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory updates
- Assist with CEAP implementation through data updates, progress tracking, KPI reporting, and documentation
- Provide GIS mapping support for EV charging, solar installations, energy use intensity, and retrofit prioritization
- Coordinate the City’s participation in regional and utility energy programs (e.g., SoCalREN, C3 REN, SCE), including scheduling, reporting, incentive tracking, and partner meetings
- Assist with contract development and administration for EV charging, energy efficiency, solar, and battery storage projects, including procurement support and performance tracking
- Research and report on grants, incentives, rebates, and regulatory changes related to energy and transportation electrification
- Monitor EV charger performance and coordinate with vendors on maintenance, outages, and software issues
- Support public outreach efforts, including workshops, educational materials, and website updates
- Coordinate with contractors, utilities, regional partners, and consultants to track deliverables and resolve issues
- Assist with grant application development, including data collection, narrative drafting, and deadline tracking
- Track emerging technologies, best practices, and tools that support municipal sustainability goals
