Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial tasks and provides oversight of rental groups, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons and prospective participants on the phone and in-person
• Assist permit groups with set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment
• Promptly open and unlock facilities or close and secure facilities as scheduled
• Complete facility condition forms following permit group use and incident reports as needed
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions
• Turn athletic field lights off and on for sports groups
• Sell and scan admission tickets special events and/or theater performances

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sweep floors, vacuum carpets, and dust or polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Wash windows, clean restrooms, replenish supplies, and sanitize high touch areas often
• Empty waste receptacles and remove any trash or debris found throughout facility
• May assist with conducting recreation classes
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 250 hours of experience in customer service or a related field preferred.

• Develop, conduct, and participate in various athletic, craft, social, cultural, and instructional activities
• Prepare facilities for programming, special events, or rental group usage
• Greet visitors, direct participants to the appropriate location, and respond to general inquiries
• Ensure safety of environment and equipment for staff, volunteers, participants, and visitors
• May open or close and secure facilities in compliance with District policies and procedures
• Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies used by instructors, participants, or visitors
• Supervise special events, field trips, and other group activities

• Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and community events

Happy Hollow Park & Zoo Recreation Leader Positions Available:
Candidates may need to work weekdays and weekends. Happy Hollow Park & Zoo shifts are typically 9:00 am-4:00 pm Sunday through Saturday, November through March, and 9:00 am-5:00 pm March through November, Sunday through Saturday. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday shifts are widely available, other weekday shifts have less availability. We currently do not offer afternoon-only shifts.

HHPZ is a 16-acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo. HHPZ is open year-round catering to families with children. It operates eight amusement park rides, showcases various endangered species, and operates one of the oldest classical puppet theaters in California, as well as offering many other playgrounds and attractions emphasizing play and imagination in a natural conservation setting. HHPZ has the following positions available and all Recreation Leaders at HHPZ may be required to perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

HHPZ - ENTERTAINMENT: Entertainment staff are responsible for coordinating the production, scheduling, and performance of daily puppet shows. This position may include assisting with the fabrication of puppets, scenery and props; delivering improvisational performances; providing Happy Hollow mascot escorts around the park and offsite events; interacting with the Happy Hollow guests; and coordinating special events. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in developing new and updating existing puppet shows, coordinating entertainment for the Crooked Meadow stage, working with the special events team to provide entertainment, and participating in the coordination of theater camps, classes and workshops; as well as performing routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning of entertainment production areas; performing daily safety checks in public and staff areas; and working weekends, evenings, and holidays during all climatic conditions, as assigned.

HHPZ - GUEST SERVICES: This position is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service, reflecting a positive attitude, and welcoming all guests upon arrival to Happy Hollow. A Guest Services staff must be detail oriented, willing to take initiative, and enjoy working in a team environment. This position will go through a tiered training including Turnstiles, Admissions, Membership, and Guest Services; to ensure a well-rounded host for the customer service desk. Additionally, this position leads and monitors the performance of all cashiers, and front gate staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; selling park admissions, memberships, turnstile operations, birthdays, group reservations, assisting lost parties, administer first aid, creating daily operating schedules, ensuring daily cleanliness of front gate area, ordering supplies, and providing administrative assistance.

HHPZ - PICNIC BASKET & DOUBLE H CATERING: This position is responsible for assisting the Cook & Food Service Manager in managing the Food and Beverage operations at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo's Picnic Basket restaurant, on and off-site catering, and remote concession stands. General duties include assisting in the training; cashiering, developing and maintaining relationships with work experience program volunteers, assist with developing seasonal food and beverage menus; overseeing food preparation quality and safety; and developing and maintaining an attractive and consistent presentation. Training will be provided.

HHPZ - REVENUE: The Revenue Team is responsible for cash handling and securing funds in accordance with the City of San Jose Policy. This position may include, but are not limited to, accurate counting of cash and coins, preparing daily money distribution to cashiers, ability to maintain effective communication with employees and customers to express oneself clearly and concisely, closing out cashiers, ability to problem solve, prepare banking deposits, filling, and emptying coin change machines, follow written and oral instructions, and willing to work weekends and holidays.

State and Federal Legislative Affairs: Supports the City’s state and federal legislative affairs activities; monitors, reviews and tracks federal and state legislation proposals and other policy issues with a focus on impact to the City; conducts comprehensive bill analysis, draft position letters and talking points to be shared with a variety of stakeholders; advocate with legislative offices to advance City interests and represent the City at meetings and conferences; build and maintain stakeholder relationships including non-profits, businesses, and government entities, and where appropriate participate in regional and statewide coalitions to support the interests of the City.

Project Management: Completes substantive projects in support of City Council and City Manager’s Office priorities. Perform project and policy analysis, which includes conducting research, preparing reports, determining and raising pertinent issues, summarizing findings and presenting results/recommendations. May serve as a project lead over a team responsible for developing and configuring management plans supporting the development of complex programs; defines and recommends processes for various technical environments, and communication strategies. Monitors and evaluates various programs to ensure program compliance with applicable rules, regulations and laws. Participates in the development and implementation of new program designs, conducts research and investigations to monitor and assess program effectiveness as appropriate and necessary.

The Departments:
The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for two Compliance Manager positions: one (1) position in the Electric Utility Department, and one (1) position in the Water and Sewer Utilities Department. 

The Electric Department, doing business as “Silicon Valley Power,” (SVP) currently provides over 600 Megawatts of power to residential and business customers within Santa Clara, of which 40 percent of comes from carbon-free renewable resources. The Water and Sewer Utilities Department is a utility enterprise that provides planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system. The Positions:

• Electric Utility Department:  The Compliance Manager for the Electric Utility (SVP) will lead the department’s North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Compliance Program. Based on SVP’s NERC Registrations as a Transmission Owner, Transmission Operator, Distribution Provider, Transmission Planner, Generation Owner, and Generation Operator, the Compliance Manager monitors NERC Reliability Standard projects and works with business units across the utility to plan a strategy for meeting compliance with upcoming regulatory changes.  This position also performs ongoing reviews of the utility’s current practices, and operational events for compliance with existing reliability standards.  The NERC Compliance Manager interfaces with the Western Electric Coordinating Council (SVP’s Compliance Enforcement Authority) for compliance spot checks, annual self-certifications, and the triennial NERC/WECC Audit. The Compliance Manager will prepare the utility for upcoming audits, coordinate compliance with SVP’s neighboring utility as needed, manage contracts as well as contractors and support staff. The ideal candidate will have: a good grasp of vertically integrated utility operations, strong analytical and writing skills, excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, experience with SharePoint, and experience organizing and leading teams. The Compliance Manager (NERC) for the Electric Utility must pass a criminal history background check that meets the requirements of NERC Standard CIP-004 prior to employment and every 7 years thereafter.
   
• Water and Sewer Utilities Department:  The Compliance Manager for the Water and Sewer Utilities position oversees the Code Enforcement, Water Resources Specialist and administrative staff. This is a critical position with the responsibilities that include managing the City's water quality monitoring program to ensure the protection of the public and compliance with all applicable drinking water regulations as promulgated by the California Department of Health Services, California Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; managing all State and Federal regulatory programs and issues for the protection of the public and employees from industrial accidents, and occupational and environmental health hazards. Also managing all ongoing water and sewer utility compliance with applicable regulations/standards/policies governed by OSHA, Cal OSHA, EPA, DOT, California Department of Health Services, State Water Resource Control Board, the Regional Water Quality Control Board and any other Federal, State, and local regulatory agency and when necessary, direct corrective action that may include halting an operation. Due to the level and day-to-day responsibility of the Compliance Manager, this position is integral to the Water and Sewer Utilities.

The Compliance Manager is a key leadership position in the unclassified service with assigned responsibility for ensuring compliance with all Federal, State and local laws, regulations, permits for City of Santa Clara within the Electric Utility, Water & Sewer Utilities and Public Works Departments. The employee will provide the leadership of all employees through coaching, enabling and facilitating a team environment and working collaboratively with internal and external customers. Individual is responsible for initiating actions up to and including stopping an operation when necessary to assure full compliance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in inside environmental conditions.  The employee occasionally works in evenings or weekends and occasionally works with use of personal vehicle.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of a wide variety of recreation activities.  

The work schedule will be Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-9:15pm but may vary based on the needs of the City.

The Program Coordinator classification is the top-level position in the Recreation Leader Series.  Advancement from Recreation Leader Level II to Program Coordinator requires 500 hours of work experience at Recreation Leader Level II, or equivalent experience.

May provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member.

Essential Duties

• Provide evening customer support, which includes front desk coverage at the Adult Community Center, processing registrations and payments, processing refunds and transfers, answering phone, contacting customers through emails and calls.

• Room set ups and break downs.

• Assist with program marketing including social media and flyers.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance related duties involving manual labor of facilities, parks, storm drains, streets, etc.
• Repair irrigation systems, tools, recreation and maintenance equipment
• Operate various motorized equipment such as  a tractor, gang mower, power mower, and other equipment
• Plants, waters, mows, prunes, sprays and maintains hedges, lawns, trees, flowers and shrubs
• Maintains parks restrooms and common spaces. 

Willing to assist in these areas:

• Clean out catch-basins and other storm-related preventive maintenance
• Operate and maintain sewer rodding, compressors and additional pneumatic tools
• Repairs and replaces sewer and storm drainage pipe
• Perform basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, street construction and pipe-fitting work
• Street traffic control and sign painting which may include inventory, purchasing, use of computer plotting machine and welding

The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, culverts and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and repair activities or in the various solid waste site activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems and the County solid waste site. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week, Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm during the summer. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.
• Prunes trees and other vegetation as needed.
• Directs and controls traffic around work sites.
• Operates semi-trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, boom truck, front loader, rollers, snow plow, etc.; operates a compressor, sand blasters, jack hammer, chipper machine, welding equipment, cutting torch, compaction tools, weed eater, blower, and other hand and power tools.

I-   $18.29 - $22.24 Per Hour
II-  $19.70 - $23.94 Per Hour
III- $20.72 - $25.19 Per Hour

The Public Works Maintenance Supervisor  plans, organizes and supervises maintenance, repair and construction of County roads, bridges, and culvert operations within the Public Works Department. This positions is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week, Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm.
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives. 
• Evaluates operations and activities in assigned areas of responsibility; recommends improvements and modifications as necessary to maintain productivity and effectiveness.
• Plans and organizes daily and weekly schedules and assignments.
• Participates in budget preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations.
• Determines area and method of disposal; inspects daily cover for adequacy and compliance.
• Receives and responds to inquiries from the public; investigates complaints and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
• Participates in staff selection; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline procedures.
• Schedules road maintenance assignments, materials, and equipment; orders supplies and materials required for daily operations.
