The General Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in keeping our communities and centers clean, safe, and visually appealing. This position focuses on a specific set of tasks tailored to meet the needs of the Recreation & Community Services Department, differing from the broader responsibilities of a full General Maintenance Worker under the Public Works Department. The Recreation Coordinator or Recreation and Community Services Supervisor is the key point of contact for this position, providing general direction and/or supervision.

1. Field Preparation: Assist t with basic field preparation for baseball and softball, including tasks like dragging the infield play area, marking chalk lines, and other essential setup activities.
2. Groundskeeping: Support keeping the exterior areas of community centers clean and presentable by removing trash and maintaining general tidiness. Assist with watering and care of indoor plants within recreation centers as needed.
3. Facility Cleaning: Perform light janitorial duties, including cleaning restrooms, fitness centers, and lobbies.
4. Events & Equipment Support: Assist with event setup and teardown once events are completed. Maintain special event equipment, furniture and supplies and promptly report any damaged or broken items to a supervisor for replacement.

POSITION DETAILS:

• Full-time regular position

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

• Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Experience:

• Two years of general maintenance experience performing field maintenance work within the assigned area of responsibility.

License or Certificate:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Class A driver license within one year (Landscape or Streets) of employment.
• Some positions may require possession of, or ability to obtain, an Electrical Hazards Awareness certificate within one year of employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certifications within the first six months.
• Additional industry-specific certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the classification of Social Worker II. Under general supervision, incumbents perform moderately complex social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; conducting field visits; identifying, assessing and arranging alternative solutions to clients’ needs and obstacles; carry a moderately complex caseload; prepare and monitor plans; prepare court reports, depending on area of assignment; and perform related work as assigned. DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;
• May assist professional and technical staff with special projects including surveying, data gathering and reporting, analyses and computerized report presentations;
• May respond to basic inquiries from the general public and resolve issues related to the City's planning and zoning procedures and specific permits; research and provide information to City staff and the general public regarding land use issues and standard environmental documentation;
• May perform a variety of activities relating to the development of financial and statistical reporting, including accumulating, analyzing and tracking of revenues and expenditures; analyzes financial trends and develops projections of costs and funding opportunities.
• May conduct surveys, research, and analysis of various departmental issues; may update procedure and policy manuals;
• May answer phones and/or assist the public or others including such tasks as taking messages, responding to questions or requests for assistance, screening and referring to sources of information, providing forms and explaining procedures for completion;
• May prepare bills, orders, notes and receipts, permits, licenses; perform basic arithmetic operations; receive fees when the amount is readily obtainable by simple computations, or from fixed schedules; post data, keep records, and prepare statistical or other types of reports in accordance with predetermined forms and procedures.

Position Duties

The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill 2 full-time Maintenance Worker I vacancies in the Parks Division.

The salary range for this classification is: $68,473.60 - $83,304.00

Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

This is the journey-level class in the Maintenance Worker classification series responsible for performing the full range of semi-skilled tasks for assigned maintenance operations and programs. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker II in that the latter class performs the more complex work assigned to the series.

Some assignments require candidates to be willing and able to work weekends, holidays and/or other shifts as needed.

Duties of the Maintenance Worker I position include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining park grounds which may include, but is not limited to: irrigation, cultivation, pruning, planting, and transplanting a variety of turf, shrubs, trees, and plants. 

• Operating mowing equipment in parks and athletic fields and operating triplex gang/rotary mowers, power edgers, tractors, rototillers, sprayers, dump and other trucks, power chain saws and other light power equipment and hand tools used in grounds and maintenance work. 

• Applying fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers. 

• Maintaining and making minor repairs to playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic fields and sport courts, park trails, and firebreaks as well as make minor repairs and adjustments to irrigation systems, mowers, and miscellaneous equipment. 

• Performing clean-up and litter pick-up functions, cleaning pools and fountains, scheduling automatic irrigation controllers, maintaining work-related records, and preparing corresponding reports. 

• Explaining programs and policies to the public, providing lead guidance to less experienced workers, assisting in firefighting and rescue duties in wilderness park areas, and may be responsible for vehicle and pedestrian traffic safety in work areas. 

• Must be willing and able to lead various unpaid labor and volunteer participants.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Social Worker Supervisor III in the Child and Adult Protective Services division of the Health and Human Services Department. Under general supervision this position plans, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews and evaluates the work of Social Workers assigned to adult and child protective services; oversees and performs social services case work of a complex and difficult nature in providing a variety of social services to County residents; performs case work of varying scope and complexity and may provide program leadership and consultative services; responsible for program planning and implementation as well as performance of the most complex work and the full range of work supervised on a relief or overflow basis and performs other duties as assigned. This position is the specialized supervisory professional level in the social worker series and reports directly to a Health and Human Services Program Manager.

Examples of Duties:

• Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of various levels of professional social work staff in the area of adult and child protective services.
• Provide direction and coaching, through regular feedback sessions; create individual development plans with employees, discuss job performance problems to identify causes and issues, and work on resolving problems; and offer advice and assistance as needed.
• Recommend and administer discipline and implement discipline procedures as needed/directed.
• Recommend selection of staff; provide or coordinate staff training and provide for their professional development.
• Interpret regulations and rules to staff; provide for consistency of staff interpretation and application of such rules and regulations.
• Provide technical assistance to staff regarding difficult case problems.
• Prepare and modifies procedures related to assigned activities; inform staff of such changes.
• Perform the full range of professional work, often in difficult or complex circumstances.
• Interview and counsel a diverse population referred for services; handle the most complex and sensitive child welfare services cases.

Temporary Maintenance Worker – Parks & Roadsides 

Salary: $20.00/hour

DEFINITION 

Perform a variety of general maintenance services for parks and roadsides and other areas as assigned within the Town.   

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position. 
• Flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekend work; not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year. 
• The schedule for this position would be Monday-Thursday. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

General supervision is received from the Maintenance Supervisor. May exercise supervision of Work Alternative Program participants as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:  

• Clean up trash in and around Town-maintained park and roadside areas. 
• Operate a variety of equipment, including: half ton and three-quarter ton trucks, Cushman and golf cart (or similar) vehicles, blowers and other two-cycle equipment, and hand tools (i.e., shovel, rake, hoe, etc.). 
• Periodically groom sports fields and bocce ball courts with equipment and/or machinery provided. 
• Prepare baseball fields and bocce ball courts for league play. 
• Assist Maintenance Services personnel on assigned projects.  

• Perform duties within OSHA standards. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge of: 

• Construction and maintenance materials, methods, and terminology. 

• The use, purposes and maintenance of hand tools; and the operation of light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment in performing duties. 

Ability to: 

• Understand and follow oral and written directions. 
• Ability to work both in a supervised and unsupervised environment. 
• Perform manual labor for extended periods of time; and operate under tight deadlines. 
• Lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. 
• Work flexible hours. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 

Education: 

Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Graduation from high school or equivalent is preferred. 

Experience: 

Landscape and/or irrigation maintenance experience is desirable. 

LICENCE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S) 

Possession of a valid California State Driver’s License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire and good driving record.
